I read an article by, by Mike Groh, in Access-VB-SQL Advisor Magazine,
Week 37 that concerns me quite a bit on distributing Access
Applications commercially.
First I need to describe a "commercial version" of my application that
I hope to distribute after completing all the beta testing:
A. It was developed using MS AccessXP Pro (developers edition),
B. It has a front end MyApplication.mdb and a MyAppBbackend_be.mde;
the front end is...

I have created install packages for my ade on mssql installation as a
windows installer package in installshield and it all works fine
except;
1. I want to determine whether Access 2002 is installed and if not,
install the access 2002 runtime.
2. I need to create a shortcut which includes the "\runtime" switch to
force runtime mode for users with a full version of access. The trick
is that this requires the full path to the executable...

I am wanting to be able to write reports against an ms-access database
that is part of another package. I only want to report from the
database.
What I need is a package that will allow me to create the reports and
then be able to distribute a run-time version. The client may not have
Office so the package must run standalone. It could get to the Access
database through an ODBC driver.
Does anyone know what packages available?

Hi folks,
I am confused about how to create a stand alone installer to install
Access 2003 Runtime. There are two files I have compiled into a
self-extracting zip file:
ACCESSRT.CAB
ACCESSRT.MSI
Of course, if the user extracts the files and then double clicks on

Hello,
First off, let me say that I DO own XP Developers edition, so I do have a
license to distribute the runtime. What I'm looking for is the bare bones
files I need to deploy a runtime version of Access. When I use the Package
and Deployment wizard, the resulting set up file is 160 Mb in size. I'd
like to just package the program database and the bare minimum files needed
for it to run properly.
Any help would be greatly...

I am looking at buying Installshield 11 Professional and Sagekey Access 2002
Runtime Object to facilitate the distribution of my Access 2002 application
(having despaired with the PDW).
One of the key reasons for using SageKey (as I understand it) is to ensure
that no conflicts occur with other versions of Access.
In fact their website mentions Access 97 through 2002 in this regard.
However, no mention is made regarding Access 2003.
The...

I have an Access 97 app and the ADT and am considering selling it to
the public.
Is this viable? What issues might I have?
I also have Access 2000 and could use that if it would be better. I
don't have the "ADT" for 2000. Is it called ODE or ODT? Can you still
buy that?
Would there be any advantage in moving up to and distributing using

Hello,
Is there a tool that I can use to create an MSI file to deploy an Access
database? I did a few searches on MSI on the Microsoft Website, but I got a
lot of information that had to do with MSI files, but didn't answer any of
my questions.
Anyone have experience with this?
Thanks!

I'm confused about what is necessary to distribute an Access 2003
application to people that don't have MS Access (or don't have the
right version) installed on their PCs. I have done some research on
the MS website, as well as on this newsgroup, and have never found a
clear explanation of what is required.
I have written an application that I would like to sell, but if I can
only sell to those with access to Access (sorry, couldn't...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
