Better way to store data - Microsoft Access / VBA

I would like to ask is thier a better way to store data other than access
tables, I would still like to keep access as the front end. My main quest I
suppose is for more speed and maybe security. your thoughts are appreciated

Access makes a very nice, very capable client application for any server
database that has either an ODBC driver or an ADODB data source. Typically
with ODBC you have an Access MDB and the Jet database engine. If you are
using MS SQL Server as the server database, you can creat an ADP, a somewhat
different kind of Access application for the client.

With a MDB client applications, using Jet and ODBC, I have worked with
Informix, Sybase SQL Server, Sybase SQL Anywhere, and Microsoft SQL Server.
You'll only gain speed just from moving to a server back-end if you have
lots and lots of data. And, you'll need to "tune" the client, so it is
designed to take advantage of the server.

However, I have a colleague here who processes an enormous amount of data
for his clients to produce detailed marketing analyses -- he went to a
four-processor server running SQL server with just one client, just for the
speed. His run time dropped from weeks to hours.

What is wrong with Access (i.e., Jet) for your needs? The answer to
that question will determine whether or not there actually is a
better way to store your data.

That is, the problem(s) you are encountering may or may not be
solved by a move to a different back end db engine.
