I created a view on an Access 2002 database through an ODBC query
tool. The view works fine either through ODBC or the Access IDE. The
problem I am having is that it does not show up in the Queries list on
the Access IDE. It's almost as if ODBC did not write a portion of the
data dictionary or something.. quite odd. Has anyone heard of this
problem before and know of a cause/solution? I would like to continue
to create the views without doing it through Access 2 2287
Access/Jet ODBC sees Views as though they were server Tables, not as
Queries, and, as any other Table, you have to link it.

No it is the opposite from what I think you are saying. I can see
Access "queries" as views in ODBC. But the opposite is not true. When
I create a view through ODBC in an access database, it will not show
up in the access IDE as a query although it is available through the
ODBC API as a view.

Is there a way to scroll a selected OPTION into view?
I have a combination of text box and SELECT list. A user can key in
text in the text box, and depending on the entry made, the respective
option in the list is to be highlighted. Somewhat like an
autocolmplete... I have been able to achieve this, however, if the
position/index of the selected option is beyond the SIZE of the SELECT
list, then the OPTION positions itself at the bottom...

Using "SELECT * " is a bad practice even
when using a VIEW instead of a table?
I have some stored procedures that are
identical with the difference of one statement
in the WHERE clause. If I create a single View
and specify also in this View the WHERE clause
that is common in these stored procedures, I
will have the new stored procecures changed to
be like:

Am something of a newbie at this, so please bear with any stupid
questions.
I have created a database to track shipments that we import. The
information is stored in a table and I have created a form which
displays the information from the table. The end users have access to
the form only - this is deliberate.
I have created some queries, including parameter queries, to aid them
which are accessible via buttons on the main form. ...

Well here is the problem, I have a data set with about 9,000 to 20,000
people in it in the data table "people"... I am then reading it into a list
view one at a time row by row... adding each person to the list view, well
this works fine up to about 1,000 people then it start's to get really show
putting the people in (a lot of process time used up)... does anyone know of
any optimizations i could do to make this processess work a lot...

I have the view below and if I use vwRouteReference as the rowsource
for a combo box in an MS Access form or run "SELECT * FROM
vwRouteReference" in SQL Query Analyzer, the rows don't come through
sorted by Numb.
Everything I've read on the web suggests that including the TOP
directive should enable ORDERY BY in views. Does someone have an idea
why the sorting is not working correctly for this particular view? thanks.

I'm trying to fix a glitch in a complex access database, and have a
fairly complex problem... unless there's some obscure easy fix I don't
know being fairly new with Access. Basically, the area I'm trying to
fix includes a form which takes entered data, concatenates it into a VB
string to form an SQL query, then launches a report with information
from the query. Several tables are linked in the query, but the key
ones for this problem...

Well, I think I've described what I want to do in the title here.
In the database, I have two main tables that contain the main data for the database. One for group expenditures, another for application details. I have a query for each of them to copy all the contents of the table into a new table, then delete all the data from the main table. I need to do this becasue once a year the data needs to be removed, ready for putting in new data. I...

Rather than using the Access design view change the view to SQL. I am going to attempt to outline the general syntax used for SQL queries in Access.
Angle brackets <> are used in place of some syntax elements you must supply. The description of these elements will be in the contained in the angle brackets.
Square brackets are used to show which parts are optional.
Basic SELECT query
SELECT <field list>
FROM <table/query name(s)>

HI,
Thanks for assisting me with my previous query.
I have almost completed my access database. And now in the process of
optimising it.
When I first developped the database I had implemented the "List Box"
option for some of the data input (by the user) and specified a range
of inputs for some of the form "boxes".

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...
