I was wondering:
how come the stl map class does not have a reserve function like the
useful vector::reserve function?
I was thinking about implementing my own reserve class, by providing
my own allocator, inherting a new class from map, and add it a reserve
function that will work on my allocator and ask it to reserve memory
for future use.
however, I don't know how to call the map's Allocator instance in
order to reserve the memory....

Hi,
Is it possible to writed Sealed classes in C++ .
i.e. there is no sealed/final keyword in C++, but is it possible to achieve
the same effect? i.e. deriving from a sealed class is an error and the
compiler should flag it as such.
Thanks

If you reserve a certain amount of memory for a std::vector, what
happens when a reallocation is necessary because I overshot the limit?
I mean, say I reserve for 500 elements, the insertion of 501st element
is going to cause some more allocation -- for arguments sake if the
vector re-grows to accomodate 1000 elements, I play around with it and
completely erase everything in it after I am done. Now how much does
the vector hold? Do I...

Hi,
Is it possible to have a method sealed and abstract at the same time? MSDN
states clearly that this is not allowed for classes but it does not mention
it for methods. I tried with a simple example and the compiler would not
allow me to compile, however in a recent interview, I was asked this
question and the interviewer claimed that this is used in certain
situations! I am baffled!
Thanks,

Two quick questions please:
1) How do I declare a STL string variable that I know in advance I want to
hold 5,000 bytes? I'm using SGI STL with MS VS 6.0 C++ in case that matters.
For example, right now I am doing this:
string myLargeString;
myLargeString.reserve(5000);

ref struct XXX abstract sealed
{
literal int A = 5;
};
The definition above gives me the compiler warning "C4693: a sealed abstract
class cannot have any instance members 'A'". The equivalent definition is
perfectly legal in other CLR languages. For example in C#;
static class XXX

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
