Before you post please:

Some of the main posting guidelines we would like you to follow when posting (in brief):

Pick a good thread title -
Titles are there to help others, who are searching the forum, to find a thread that relates to a problem they have. Thread titles like 'Help!!' or 'I have a problem' are not very helpful.
Use
tags -
tags are there to format any code you use in your post. We ask that you use code tags because it benefits yourself and our experts when they are reading your question.
Example:
.. your code goes here ..
Currently, Bytes.com is lacking syntax-highlighting for code. However, our very own Atli has created a user-script to remedy this (long-standing) issue. Should work on Chrome and Firefox.

Useful Stuff

The Bytes.com forums not only have a Q&A section (questions & answers), we also have Insight areas. These parts are where forum-specific tutorials, articles, etc. reside. So please be sure to check them out and post to them if you feel you have something you want to share. The PHP Insights area can be found here.

There are 1000s of PHP-orientated blogs and tutorials out there. However, only a few are worth using. If you are serious about learning PHP, the first website you should have bookmarked is http://php.net. This site has an extensive manual covering just about everything to do with PHP from installation to the Zend Engine documentation. To quickly search for a function's documentation, simply follow this structure: php.net/function-name (substitute underscores for dashes).

Here are a few other blogs, sites and tools worth visiting and getting-to-know:
 • http://devzone.zend.com/ - Lots of very useful and expert articles
 • http://phpdeveloper.org/ - Again lots of useful and expertly written articles. This site, however, is an aggregate of other sites that is vetted by Chris Cornutt, a popular PHP conference speaker.

If you know of any sites that should be added here, please leave a reply.

If you have any questions, you may post them in this thread or in the Feedback and Suggestions forum.

Thank you for your time,
Markus.
