I've decided to replace the announcement with a sticky thread.

Again I would like to welcome all experts to this forum. We are gaining some great experts who are contributing significantly to the growth of this forum and I know based on posts both here and in the lounges that those posting questions are in the main very pleased and satisfied with the help they receive.

There are just a couple of points I would like to make which I feel can make this forum even better.

The sticky threads at the top of this forum are as much for your benefit as the new posters.

The Posting Guidelines are there to try to improve the posting of initial questions and to stop them from getting so big that no one can follow them. Please encourage posters to follow these guidelines, but in a nice way. They are meant for everybody's benefit.

If you have any suggestions for amendments or additions to the Posting Guidelines please let me know.

The other sticky thread of 'links to useful sites' you should find useful in saving you from having to repeat yourself on basic questions.

I know there are a lot of other sites out there but our Site Rules state that other forums and advertising sites can't be included. However, if anyone has any suggestions for inclusion please send me a PM outlining the site in a couple of sentences.

One last point I would like to make is that I would like you to discourage any off topic arguments in the threads. If there is a point to be made then most users avail of the sites Private Messaging facility and it can be made there. I don't think it's fair to people looking for answers to technical questions to have to deal with these discussions.

That is not to say that I think there is anything wrong with pleasant banter. It just makes the site more pleasant and inviting as long as it doesn't take over the thread to the detriment of the technical issues and is of course appropriate.

If a situation develops that you think needs to be handled in a more serious manner I am happy for you to involve me as moderator. A PM should get my attention.

Just one final point, if you happen to notice any spams appearing in threads you can report them by using the report button at the bottom of each post. Yes that's what it's for.

I am going to leave this thread open to replies for the moment if anyone has any comments they wish to make on any of these matters.

Thank you again for your participation.
