send an xml, very simple webservice question -PLEASE HELP!

1 New Member
Hi,

I have been asked to build a simple web service by Friday and wondered if someone could help me out with a couple of questions.

All I need to do is pass the contents of an XML file to another company's web service. We have told them that they will receive it in the format that we already have the xml file in so I don't need to change it at all. Would I be right in thinking that I could just build a service that reads in the desired files into strings and then passes on the string?

Or am I missing something? I have written a simple asmx hello world service. Is there any reason why I cannot just modify this to read the contents of the xml file into a string and pass that instead of the hello world text? I am just looking to send them the xml in an acceptable and standar manner.

Sorry to sound so Ignorant but I am! If any one could point me in the right direction or send me a link to an example or tutorial that would be great.

Cheers,
Joe

Hello, We have a C#.NET app which is calling a Java webservice. We use the wsdl file exportted from the java webservice to create our web-reference in Visual Studio. We are able to create the parameter classes and call the webservice just fine. Our problem is, within our .Net app, we have some value objects ( like floats, for instance ) which are meant to be null. Since there is no null float, we use float.minvalue to indicate a...

I want to send a DataSet to WebService, but the DataSet if too huge(there about 50000 records, and 50 fields every record). My solution is 1.save the DataSet as XML file, 2.zip the XML file. 3. send the zip file to WebService. 4. Unzip the zip file to XML. 5. Load XML file into DataSet. 6.Bulk copy the XML file to DataBase.

I want to send a bug report automatically from my VB.NET program. I won't know the end user's smtp server or what email client they are using. The Process.Start with mailto is almost what I need, but the amount of information that will fit in the body is too small for a stack dump and other information. I like the way that it would go into the outbox, but oh well, have to move on. My next choice is Indy or System.Web.Mail, but I...

Hello, I need to send to a webservice a parameter that is a string containing an XML doc. In this xml, a node value came from a byte array (it's an RSA signature). What is the best way to convert the original byte () value to the xml and viceversa? I've tried a lof of way, as encoding.utf8, encoding.unicode, bitconverter, etc, but the only working solution I found is Convert.XXbase64String: writer.WriteElementString("ContentSignature",

Hi. I would like to let users send bug reports or other messages to me. Maybe the easiest way to send e-mails from my application is just use the default e-mail agent by executing a link mailto://mymail@domail.com. But this only works if the user has configured Outlook or something. Many users use web-based mails here so if I do so, Outlook Express's a new account wizard will pop-up. Futhure more this reveals user e-mails. Some people...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
