Vista problem: can't erase my dvd's

So here we are again for a vista problem. I have a dvd-rw of which I want to erase the content. But, off course, vista won't let me. No erase option on right-click-menu, no erase option in the frequently used tasks, no delete option when right clicking the files on it, and not even a format option. And I can't use nero either because I have version 7 and it is all but vista compatible. So what now?

Yarr (if it wasn't for my games not working on linux, I would have switched already)

Sounds like you can just select the items you want to delete and then press the Delete Key. Reference

I just reinstalled XP on my main computer this last weekend because i got tired of fighting with vista.

Nope, there's nothing, I even started doubting if vista knows it's a dvd-writer, and not only reader.

open my computer, right click the drive (with the DVD in it) is there a run as amdin option? i think there should be a submenu when you hover over it, check and see if formatting is in there.
