you will more than likely have to re install windows on your system. put the reinstalation disk in and start up your computer and boot from the disk. make sure you DO NOT format your computer, or you will loose your data. wait for the computer to load up all of the drivers, it can take a few minutes. after you get to the screen that shows your hard drives, at the bottom of the screen it should say repair, that is what you want to do, it will take a while to comletely reinstall it, but when it is done, it should work fine again.

As this post is quite old, I assume the problem was dealt with. However, thanks to Google I found, that you can probably repair Windows in such a case, by
  • starting the Computer with the Windows CD,
  • entering the Windows Setup,
  • NOT choosing the repair dialogue but choose "install",
  • then when it says, that you have a installed version already choose to repair and
  • follow the instructions
Apparently, that fixes the error.
