How can you tell if WMI is busted on a remote PC?

Hi,

I work at a help desk and we do a lot with WMI. A lot of machines have WMI issues, which can cause all kinds of errors. Is there a way to make a program to test that? or a script to run on the machine?

Some of the errors that I see are like: Invalid Namespace, No Namespace, or Initalization Failure.

Any help?

I have an ASP.NET web page accessing a SQL database. I've used VS to build the app and stored it in the eNPTest02 directory of my localhost on my development machine. The database is on the web. I've found a way that works on the web, and I'm trying to get it to also work in debug mode in the IDE. The "on the web" page and my SQL database are hosted by a third party (on separate servers). Since debug mode opens IE and loads my page...

I have a small application that uses oledb to connect to a database, set up through the GUI wizards in vis studio. I am wanting to have the database location kept in an .ini file along with the program so that it can be changed to suit each particular user's setup. The problem is that if I try to modify OleDBCOnnection.ConnectionString at run-time, then I get an error about the said connectionstring being un=initialized. Anyone got...

Hello, I want to put (incrementally) changed/new files from a big file tree "directly, compressed and password-only-encrypted" to a remote backup server incrementally via FTP,SFTP or DAV.... At best within a closed algorithm inside Python without extra shell tools. (The method should work with any protocol which allows somehow read, write & seek to a remote file.) On the server and the transmission line there should never be...

This three-column layout is busted in Safari. It's built with a fixed-width container, with three percentage-based columns inside. http://tinyurl.com/uw8mc The box-model hack is present to ensure that the columns display correctly in IE. It works fine in Firefox and IE, but Safari appears to take the layout apart. Since I work on a PC, the only way for me to test the site is with iCapture. Can anyone provide suggestions on how to...

I have a remoting application, written in C# .NET 2.0, that works in my development environment in IIS 5 on a Win XP machine, but does not work in IIS 6 on my production Win 2003 Server machine. When debugging I get a System.Net.WebException with the error message "remote server returned error 400: bad request." The strange thing is that the Response.ResponseUri in the Exception object shows the internal IP address of the server, not...

Hi there. I'm setting up test suite for a project of mine. situations, if the socket is closed on the other end or not. I noticed that I can "detect" such state if a call to socket.read() returns 0 but it seems a little poor to me. :-\ Is there a reliable way to test such socket 'state'?

I am using ASP.NET 2.0 w/ c#. I have an Http handler that intercepts any request labeled .file. I am trying to have this handler serve up a file from a remote location (public) and I do not want to have read the file from the remote server first then stream it through my server to the client. What I am looking to do is make an HttpHandler tell the browser client to start downloading a file from a remote location so the bandwidth used is...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
