What OS? What is the path that it is looking for? Have you tried to manually navigate to that path? What is the read/write protection on the target path?

I'm experiencing exactly the same problem. Also using vista home premium. My other machine, whcih also has vista home premium, gave me a little bit of a problem, but I've now installed Quick Time and iTunes on that machine OK. The error message is the same as Jenx gets, and you receive this same error message if you try to uninstall Quick Time

Friends! I need to show the dialog "select folder" and get the path selected, using vb.net. The OpenFileDialog control is useless as I want to select a folder and not a file. In vb6 I achieved this by an OCX called DPDLG, but in .net i do not find the solution neither this ocx works in .net. Any idea? sample code?

Hi I have created an installation package in VS .Net. All works well if I use the default installation path. If however I change the Installation path the following message is shown. "A portion of the folder path '' is invalid. It is either empty or exceeds the length allowed by the system" If I ignore this message the software installs correctly anyway.

Hi, I'm trying to clear the TIF on Windows XP programmatically with the below code. This code works fine on any folder but the TIF. For some reason the atEnd() statements always defaults to true and no files are deleted in the folder. The peculiarity of this issue is that the files/subfolders cannot be seen through the windows explorer either. I can only access/delete them through a command shell. Any ideas?

I designed a small app and I wanted to do a BrowseFolder (see http://www.mvps.org/access/api/api0002.htm), basically do a file open diaglog and select a directory/folder. The problem is that you can't specify the starting folder. Stephan Leban provided a neat solution that does allow me to browse using a starting folder. I am using A97 and it works fine. However, I put it onto a system that uses AccessXP. And it chokes on...

Hi All, I want to browse to a particular folder, not a particular file. The reason for this is that I have a utility that asks people to browse to a certain file, and I want them to be able to choose the location that they start browsing. Thanks in advance.

I have the following, but the CopyFile part does not work. It goes straight through to the last message box and no file is copied. Dim fso Dim sfol As String, dfol As String

I have inherited a small DB in my office and was wondering if someone could provide some advice. Currently the DB allows the office manager to archive the data for each year under the DB's program folder. These folders are named after the year eg 2005, 2006, 2007 etc, and these folders do not contain any text in their name. The DB uses the following code to check that the selected folder is actually under the program's folder: ...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
