This is only partly a python question, but what is the easiest way to get
python to (reliably) beep under linux? By reliably I mean that ``print "\b"``
won't do because it depends on the terminal settings -- so I guess I'm looking
for some simple way to more or less directly access the internal speaker
(maybe writing to something in /dev/).

I'd like to emit beeps. The twists are that (1) I hope to have control
over the frequency of the beeps and their duration and (2) I'd like the
solution to be portable across Linux, Windows, and OS X.
I've done some searching of this group and the solutions that people

Using VS 2003, VB. Net, MSDE...
Usining task sheduler, I wish to mute the volume in the .bat file that task
scheduler runs (windows XP Pro). I don't see anyway to do this via a .bat
line command (if there is, please let me know).
So the next option would be to write a small .net program that would do it
and run that via task scheduler. How would you mute the volume in code in
the vb.net program? I'm not quire sure where to get...

I am implementing a mute button on my application which successfully
changes the mute status of the mixer in windows. I would like to know
if there is a way to detect the mixer being muted from outside the app
(by the user or another program), so I can display this in my own app.
Is there some windows message which is broadcast when a mixer is muted?

I have recently installed my windows XP, the process went smoothly, but I had
encounterd some drivers issues after the installation.
I managed to solve the ethernet adapter driver issue, but I couldn't solve
the audio device problem.
I have tried many programs to detect which audio device I have, and using
this tool : DriverGuide ToolKit, I identified it as realtek audio device.
(I have an Intel motherboard)

i recently had xp, then isntalled a friends copy of vista then back to xp,
but for some reason i cant get no audio device working..i installed the ABIT
cd it came with my new motherboard that was isntalled a while ago, but
nothing..i have installed drivers everything and still no device wil appear.
