drives name missing

107 New Member
Strangely when i open 'My Computer', i find the drive names like Local Disk (C:), Local Disk (D) ... missing for all the drives. Only the icon is present. Even the folder names for Shared Documents and Users Documents are missing. The problem is seen only when i open the my computer. Rest there is no problem inside the directories and everything is normal. I am using XP SP2.

How shuld i bring them back?

Strange case, do you have any idea what might have caused this? For instance, did you install something lately?
Also, try scanning your computer for spyware and viruses, it might be caused by something like that.

Hello,

Download TweakUI from Microsoft. Install it. Then start the TweakUI program.
You will see two panes: left pane and right pane. In left pane, look for options "drives" and "Special folders" under "My computer". Corresponding to these options, you will get names of all drives and many special folders (in right pane) that can be enabled/disabled. I suppose you can perform necessary steps after this to bring back your drives etc.

Hope this helps...

I need to eumerate all available drives in a C# Windows Form application ( and then of course the directory tree, but that's not the problem) My question is, how to I enumerate all the available drives? My initial thought was along the lines of DirectoryInfo di = new DirectoryInfo( "c:\\"); DirectoryInfo Root = new DirectoryInfo( di.Parent.Name.ToString() ); DirectoryInfo RootDrives = Root.GetDirectories();

Hi, Thanks for reading this post... I am trying to get the computer/server names from the mapped drives on the Clients PC when they select a file from the upload "browse" button. When the user clicks on the "Browse" button on the "<input type="File"... control and selects a file located in one of many possible mapped drives. I want to save the location of the file as a path as you would see when mapping a drive. For instance,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
