Silentaly Install Applications via network

228 New Member
Hi,
I have been searchin the internet for days now but didn't find a solution. I have around 100 computers under one domain and i usually have to go to each computer to install service packs and other custom softwares and it is kind of uncentralized and time consuming. I am looking forward to a tool, published by other companies other than microsoft, to help me install applications silently across the network. So far the closest i find was languard from gfi but it displays GUI to the user. The user can cancel the installation if he/she wants. Is there any software that can do that please?

Try Symantec PcAnywhere. You should install this to your user to be able for it to work. If you are an admin you can remote the users forcing them to sit and watch you do the work.

Thanks for the tip. I actually dont want to go to users computer to install the agent. I learned that the setup/installer accepts parameters to make silent installation. The problem is that the setup creators use different parameters, such as /sp /silent for setups created with innosetup. The problem is identifyin which software created the setup file. Any idea?

I've been trying to install Oracle 8.1.7 on a fresh Mandrake 9.1 O.S for days, but I'm still not able to get it running. I've tried several install instructions that I found on the internet but no luck yet. Here is a short description of what I did so far: 1. I installed the jdk118_v3-glibc-2.1.3.tar in the /usr/local/ dir and made a symbolic link from /usr/local/java to this 2. I installed all the necessary groups and users (oracle,...

This application needs to be installable on a different number of users / clients, and the application has an Access DB out on their network. How can I create a deployment routine where I can have a dialog box prompt for the network share (i.e. \\server\dbfolder) at install-time? Once network the share is specified...

I managed to make pywin32 work from a network installation (not really hard work: a shared folder + copying some dlls + setting PYTHONPATH). PythonWin amd COM seem to be working fine from the network install, BUT when I need to pass PyTime to a COM object expecting a Date I get the following error: Python24\Lib\site-packages\win32com\client\dynamic.py", line 251, in _ApplyTypes_ result = self._oleobj_.InvokeTypes(*(dispid, LCID, wFlags,...

We've had a very large A97 app running fine for the last seven years. I've just converted to SQL Server backend, which is being tested, but meanwhile the JET based version, running under terminal server, has suddenly started running very slowly. The network engineer has thrown up his hands and said "It's Access 97". I've checked out lots of things including the Oplocks setting and other stuff from this NG, and I think I've done everything...

How do we define systems programs? when we say systems programming, does it necessary mean that the programs we write need to interact with hardware directly? For example, OS, compiler, kernel, drivers, network protocols, etc...? Couple years ago, yes, I understand this is definitely true. However, as the software applications become more and more complicated, some people try to argue that. Some people argue the definition of systems...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
