Dear all, I have an application which is suppose to start another executable process. As soon as that process is running, I need to retrive its handle. The problem of the particular process I am starting is that it has a welcome window first which gets displayed and then the real windows after a while,in other words it means that the process name is the same, but the handle I need to retrive is the one from the final window and not the...

Hi guys I have a time critical process, running on a worker thread. By "time critical", I mean that certain parts of the process must be completed in a specific time frame. The time when the process starts is not especially important, but it must be complete within a small number of seconds. The operations I am performing do not take a long time (hundreds of milliseconds), but as each part of the process is complete, my worker thread...

Hi, I would like to start a new process and be able to read/write from/to it. I have tried things like... import subprocess as sp p = sp.Popen("cmd.exe", stdout=sp.PIPE) p.stdin.write("hostname\n") however, it doesn't seem to work. I think the cmd.exe is catching it.

Hi, I have a working windows service,it is looking for files on the disk and when some of the files are cupdated it calls an executable. But it takes a lot of time(about 10 minutes) to run the executable. So while that executable is running,if I try to stop the windows service while the executable(MYPROGRAM.EXE) is running,it will wait for a time(about 20 seconds) for the main windows thread to abort. If it does not finish its work, the...

We have distributed application built upon .NET 2.0. The business components are exposed as Web Services. Some of the Business Components involves in heavy processing and occupies more RAM. It appears there is a memory limitation of 4 GB per process and we are not sure if we have to further distribute the heavy processing components in to separate process/application domain. We use II6 6.0 and Windows 2003 to hosts all Web services....

I've create a windows service which will start any windows application whose name it finds in an xml file i have pointed it to. However, I also want it to create .net objects from assemblies (dll's) I want these objects run in the background. I have used reflection to find the assembly and the object type. I want these objects to run separately to the windows service. Do i start these objects in a new thread or do they need to start...

Hi, I'm using VS 2005, ,.net 2 for C# windows application. I'm using Process to run a C application and redirecting its standard output so I can read it with StreamReader.ReadToEnd. It's only reading the 1st 5 lines or so when there is about 30 lines of data. I also tried using the Process.BeginOutputReadlin and a DataReceivedEvntHandler to gather output but I also only get about 5 lines of the data. There seems to be a buffer size...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
