I will have a look later but meanwhile, if you are using XP why not download TWEAK UI by microsoft and check under 'my computer ' , ' autoplay ' and you can select to ' enable autoplay ' for removable drives although looking at it it seems to be disabled by default anyway
Hello,
TweakUI is one of few good tools from MS. But remember that specific versions of TweakUI works only with specific versions of Windows OS.
e.g.-Tweak UI Version 2.10 requires Windows XP Service Pack 1 or above

hi there, if group policy wont work for you, then just try playing the services.msc
go to run-> services.msc-> then disable removable storage,
then on the group policy-> try removing the access to run and command prompt and execution of .bat file, now your secured>

This question is in reference to another question I posted
titled, "This advertised application will not be installed
because it might be unsafe".
The error I am getting says I need to change the
installation user interface option of the package to basic.
From what I've been reading, I need to do that through the
Group Policy Object. **PLEASE CORRECT ME IF I'M WRONG**

Hi,
I'm facing some problem with the policy assembly. When I link the
configuration file and create the policy assembly ( that's what I have seen
in all the example codes..) and add to the GAC, it is working fine -
provided, I keep the config file in the same location from where I had added
the policy assembly to the GAC. Suppose If I copy the policy assembly to a
different path in which I don't have the config file and try to add that...

I am running an application that requires "Full Trust" which is declared in
the assembly.
How do I trap for the System.Security.Policy.PolicyException that is raised
by a local machines CAS if its current policy will not allow "Full Trust",
ie its running in the Intranet Zone.
I am trying to trap the error to advise users to have adm revise policy to
permit running the program otherwise a cryptic debug screen is raised.

Hi,
My WinForms-based application occasionally reads/writes data from/to the
user's profile directory. I use the following logic to determine where the
user's profile directory is located:
Environment.GetFolderPath(Environment.SpecialFolder.ApplicationData) +
@"MyAppName\MyDataFile.dat"
If the child folder "MyAppName" doesn't exist, it is created first.

I want to call my web service from a class library and have that library
handle all the wse stuff, so that applications using that library don't have
to worry about it.
Is that possible?
I've tried by creating and applying the correct policy to a class library
that I created. The application project doesn't have any wse settings (no
policy, etc) on it. Then I try calling the class library method from the
application.

i'm trying to create a 'kiosk' type of workstation, based on a particular login (where the desktop is pretty much locked and the user won't have access to run commands, change taskbar, etc). Now, the OS of this syetsm is WIndows Server 2003.
I'm trying to achieve this using LOCAL Group Policy Editor (i'm not worried abt domain right now). Now, i created an account called "TENANT" and made it a member of groups "user" and "Administrators"....

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
