Repacking the Installed softwares

Can any one help please ?
I have a lot of pre-installed software on my laptop, and want to install it on my PC, as i do not have setup CDs for any of them, can I get an utility that will repack the software, and make an installable file, Which can be used to install those s/w in my new pc
Is there any such re-packing available?
Copying the "Program files" directory etc are childish suggestions..pl s avoid to suggest such Ideas. I want the whole bunch including registry settings that have been made by s/w all dll files shared files etc.

I believe that there are programs to do this but I have never used them and don't know the names so just google for them, also they may not be 100% reliable as this is not something that is easy to do as all registry entries need to be re-enterered, any dll's need registering etc.

if you are goping from XP to vista windows provideds an application ' windows easy transfer ' which I have heard varying reports on but it might be worth trying

although it is not what you want you may have to end up installing the programs on the other PC first then copying over all files and any registry entries that you can locate as this may be the only way although it is not easy to do as the files may be in ' application data ' , ' program files ' or wherever the programmer decided to drop them.

I don't know about the licenses that came with those programs, but quite often they allow the programs to be installed on the system you bought and only there. In that case, what you are attempting to do would be illegal. However, as that depends on the license, you should check to make sure.

I got an excellent soln..
While working on another issue of VMware, I came across VMware Converter.
I convert the laptop into a virtual machine, since VM has all its virtual Hard Ware, and convert software is aware of problems may cause due to non compatibility of Hardware, the out put virtual machine came out excellent. all the software are now on my PC as it is. Only Windows OS has to be re-activated when new VM was started.
Plus I get flexibility of VM on this....

I'm sorry could you please clarify what you did (I'm just curious). Did you create a new VM image which has all the preinstalled software then transported the VM image to the other computer? So, in order for you to access those programs you would have to load up the VM image?

No I did not create a new empty virtual machine, In fact I converted my existing loaded with all application and fully functioning Laptop into a virtual machine using VmWare Converter.
You can use the intuitive wizard-driven interface of VMware Converter to convert your physical machines to virtual machines. VMware Converter quickly converts Microsoft Windows based physical machines and third party image formats to VMware virtual machines.
Depending on the scope of your virtual environment, it is likely that physical-to-virtual conversions have taken place.
If Windows based physical machine is converted, conversion process requires Installable CD of an Windows OS ie the version of OS that you have on your existing physical machine.
This process Installs fully new OS on targeted virtual machine but takes SAM info and REGISTRY info from the source machine, plus all its data and applications too.
That is the reason you have every thing installed on your new virtual machine but you have to activate it again.

great to see you got this fixed and VM converter is not something that I had thought about , I will have to check if there is anything similar for Virtual PC
