Hi!
According to Wikipedia, Service Pack 2 for Windows 2003 Server is said to be a "service pack release containing previously-released security updates, hotfixes, and reliability and performance improvements". However, R2 contains quite a lot of new features - therefore, I'd think it would say something like "Windows Server 2003 R2 Service Pack 2" if it were R2. It even came on it's own CD, while no mentioning of downloadability is to be found on Wikipedia.

However, It's just an assumption, I don't have it myself and couldn't find anything that was absolutely clear about this issue.

Hi

I have installed Windows Server 2003 R2 SP2 but R2 is not shown in
My Computers->properties. It just shows Microsoft Windows Server 2003
Standard Edition
Service Pack 2

Please let me know how to get it completely installed so that i get Windows Server 2003 R2

I have installed it from a DVD.

I have installed it from a DVD.
If that DVD is a Windows Server 2003 SP2 R2 DVD, then it's already installed. If it isn't, check this site. For more information Microsoft is probably the best source.

I want to set up SQL Server on Windows XP Pro so that I can use the database capabilities of ASP and IIS. I am probably using some incorrect settings, but I am not sure what they are. Here is what I am currently doing: When I run sqlservr.exe I see the following: 2003-12-19 15:51:28.20 server Microsoft SQL Server 2000 - 8.00.760 (Intel X8 6)

Hello All, I have been working on this for almost a week now and I haven't anything up my sleeves anymore that I could test in addition or change.... Since I am not sure, if this is a Windows 2003 Server or ADO or ODBC issue, I am posting this on all of the three newsgroups. That's the setup: Windows 2003 Server with IIS and ASP.NET actiavted Access 2002 mdb file (and yes, proper rights are set on TMP paths and path,

I am having yet another issue with Windows Server 2003. This time, the web service (a file import web service) appears to run except for one odd message: "ActiveX component can't create object". There are no other statements to indicate what object cannot be created. Otherwise, everything on the test Windows Server 2003 works fine—all import data updates correctly. Unfortunately, my normal development environment is not Windows...

Hello, I have an EM Job script that backups up my databases using SQLsafe to a target UNC. Sometimes, the target server that will store the backups is off line or it's disk is full. I am wondering how I can check to see if the machine is up via the job and secondly, check the disk space. If either check fails, I would then check another machine machine. Any ideas appreciated, Thanks

This is similar to another post I did where I would like to check one server from another server programmatically (from a service) to see if it is running and then act accordingly if it isn't. Send an email, for instance. Is there an easy way to do this? Thanks, Tom

I need to add to my server application the ability to receive up to 30K of XML data from a client application. I know I can use an XmlTextReader() to receive the data and put it into the cache. What I am mostly not sure about is how the server is supposed to know that a client is wanting to connect and is ready to send data. Do I set up a polling thread in the server to check for a connect request or is there a better way?

We have an odd situation with some of our single-threaded CPU-bound C++ programs. They run between 2 and 4 times faster on Windows XP than on windows Server 2003 on the same Xeon hyperthreading dual processor machine (we borrowed one from our IT department, and have been alternating these two operating systems on it.) Even more odd, if we run a Virtual PC with Windows XP on top of the Windows 2003 Server on the same Xeon machine, the...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
