boot disk over network

107 New Member
Hi!

Im trying to set up Windows Deployment Services so that I have the XP installation disk available as a network boot option. I already have a drive image saved that I deploy on new machines. Sometimes though its useful to use the "repair windows" (or automated system recovery) thats available on the windows installation disk. Even more useful to be able to do this using the installation files (or an image of the Xp cd) on a network drive rather than using the CD. (when i need to do more than one machine at a time particularly).

Anyone know how to impliment this using WDS?

Thanks

Andy

I'm no stranger to this error message, but I have a client who is experiencing it, but, fortunately, without any actual data corruption, and it's driving them made. Their inability to grasp that the cause is fundamentally a networking problem is also making me pull my hair out. Some history: The network is composed of five computers...

I have an old Lantastic 8.0 DOS based server and clients are able to login to this system through network booting (i.e. they are disk-less PC's). Is it possible to create a VB.Net program that can emulate a network remote boot client? Any ideas at all would be appreciated. Thanks.

I have a WD Raptor Drive (72G 10,00 RPM SATA) that I have partitioned into 2 35Gb (approx) partitions. I loaded XP home on one and it ran fine. Then I loaded x64 on the other and I couldn't get XP home to boot even though I saw the...

An unusual spin to this recurring disk or network error in a Terminal Server environment. Access 2000, Terminal Server 2000, file server is windows 2000. All users have a separate copy of the front end db, everyone accesses the back-end db via a network share. To preface, non Terminal Server users (4 or 5 in office) never have this problem....

Hi everyone, I'm trying to "burn","mount" what ever you want to call it, an .iso file to a hard disk partition. What I'm trying to do is get this iso on a partition and boot it much like I would a cd. Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For...
