You, along with so many others like you, think that you can just obtain a list of interview questions, study them, and them pass the interview. Unfortunately, interviews are NOT a Micro$oft exam!!! You cannot just study the answers to the questions in a book and go pass the test without actually learning anything.

Interviewers will ask you what is relevant to know for the position at hand. There is no way for anyone to really know the answer to this. You need to go into an interview with the confidence that you can answer whatever questions are put in front of you. If you know your material, and not just multiple guess answers, then you will do fine. If not, then keep job hunting.

Regards,

Jeff

Every interview I have ever been put through (for the jobs I have accepted) included "critical thinking" questions that I was surprised with and had to answer on the spot - such as "how many single-sided squares are in a Rubick's Cube" or the Pirate plunder question (certain number of pirates, certain amount of treasure, how do you get the most out of it), the bridge question (bridge is collapsing in a certain amount of time, each person takes a certain amount of time to get across, you only have one flashlight, what combination of people do you send across), how do you measure the volume of water coming out of a river, or even SAT/ACT style aptitude tests, etc...?

The bottom line is that you can have all the technical facts memorized, but still not be the best candidate for the job because you can't think and operate independently - just be given an assignment such as "program this function," "learn this system," or "repair this collector" and you have no idea what it is or how to do it, but you are able to find out what it is and how to do it in an expedient manner. I would recommend walking through lateral and logical thinking puzzles before devoting so much time to "standard" interview questions. (If the HR person is any good at all, they will vet candidates who only have a surface knowledge of those issues, and they'll know that by asking non-standard questions such as those critical thinking puzzles)

----------------------------------------------------------------------- FAQ Topic - Why does parseInt('09') give an error? ----------------------------------------------------------------------- The parseInt function decides what base the number is by looking at the number. By convention it assumes that any number beginning with 0x is Hexadecimal, and otherwise any number beginning with 0 is Octal. To force use of base 10 add a second...

I am using some recipes to do some calculation. But there are situation that I need to give extra parameters to the existing function. For example, the recipe has a function called: foo (int x, int y) But now I want to give another parameter, say, float z. One way is I just change the recipe function to accept 3 parameters, but I think there should be a more elegant way to do that. Because I don't want to mess up the existing...

Right now I change ownership back and forth. I don't want to give world permissions. Do i really HAVE to create a group with me and apache in it and give write permission to that group? `vget <program name>` is a PVCS command which gets the program to our home directory. This command is given inside a perl program. This command needs some input to be given. Eg. Would you like to display milestone label (Y/N)? We need to respond to this to get the program. Is there any way that i can give input to this automatically..? say N every time?.

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
