So, after reading some messages about os.system, and looking at the popen
stuff and trying it a bit, I still have not found a way to keep a command
window open for several commands (on Windows 2000/XP), while seeing the
normal output in a command window. All I want to do is do what a batch file
does, but I want to actually have functions and associative arrays and all
the other niceties of python.
What's the deal with that? I thought...

I have a windows batch file that executes a SQL Server bcp command. I
would like to obtain a return code if the bcp command fails. However,
I cannot seem to find the return code (if any) for bcp. For example,
if the bcp command is improperly formatted, or has a bad password, I
want the batch file to return an error. Right now, my batch file
simply executes and returns success, even when the bcp command fails.
Has anyone run into this...

A user runs a .NET application that authenticates them against active
directory (they're coming in over VPN so they don't log on to the network
normally). Once they log in, I want to take their user id, & run a batch
file on their PC with that user id actually inside the batch file.
(The objective here is to map a user to a drive on the network when they
come in thru VPN -- and that can only be done with a batch file we have,
customized...

Currently (manually), I 1) open a Windows SDK Command Prompt and 2) navigate
to a particular folder. Then I 3) type a command and press enter. The
command is irrelevant (WCF-related) but here it is FYI:
svcutil http://localhost/COWFeedyardService/Services/Pen.svc /out:Pen.vb
/config:App.config /language:VB
All works fine, but I need to do this over a hundred times changing "Pen" to
the names of the other classes and re-executing.

Hello,
I am trying to run all SQL scripts (with no params) in the same folder as the batch file is. I have not done much with batch files before but I think I have gotten close. It seems to work if I hard code the FILENAME.sql but will of course only work for the file I hard coded. What I need is to get the present file name from the loop and put it in to the FILENAME.sql so it will run that sql script. Hope this makes some sense and here is...

Hi to all,
I have made a web service which creates a batch file in a folder in web server and tries to execute it (in a Windows Server 2003 web server). So far I have managed to create the batch file successfully by adjusting the permissions of the folder it is created in, for the user which is assigned to run the web application for the specific application pool. But when the web service tries to execute the newly created batch file (using...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
