2 New Member
HI friends
I have noticed that there is a file desktop.ini usually of 66kb in every folder and also a folder system volume information which is empty and access denied along with recycler folder which contains files with long numerical name the recycler can be deleted and the ini file too but the system volume information does not appears it is being caused by a virus or a worm AVG and Norton both does not detect any virus/worm some entries in the registry specially in HK/root/dll appears like VBS.

A normal desktop.ini file is usually less than 100 bytes and appears as:
Size on disk: 4.00 KB (4,096 bytes)
And you should be able to open it with a text editor and see the settings that it provides.

There was once a worm or virus that created files like you describe, but it hasn't been around for a long time. Can you see in the properties page for one of those files when it was created?

I have already started a discussion regarding this problem but havnt got any soultions yet. If u found any solutions please let me know.

One more information

Goto folder options and then View tab and then disable Hide exntensions for Known file types.

Now you can see destop.ini files in your system folders. In my system I found this file in Administrative Tools also.

To demonstrate my problem, I have a very simple VB Windows application. It has a text box that is used to display a counter, a button to reset the counter, and a timer that increments the counter every second. I remote desktop to the computer hosting this application and run the application. It starts up and displays the counter incrementing every second. If I disconnect the network cable between the two computers for 10 seconds and...

Hi, I'm using VB.net 2003, and I have a problem. I need a way of saving a file directly to the desktop, without hardcoding the direct path to the desktop into the program. For example, I'm trying to save an output file to the desktop, so that users don't have to sift through a million folders to find it. Problem is, this will be running on multiple machines, each of which has its own different path to the desktop, these being a couple of...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
