A domain admin is an admin that can control all the computers on a domain, a local admin is an admin for that signal computer.

domain admin is basically for like your office computer...
they can moniter like all office computers on their network.. with 1 password/username...

but, a sys admin can only touch his computer...

if you don't have a network or anything, i don't think you really need any of this stuff..

I have a database split into front-end, back-end, on a machine running Windows XP professional (no network, just a single machine). I just upgraded the database from Access 97 to Access 2000. The machine has 3 users logging into the machine, one of which is the Administrator. In addition, I have activated the Access security, with the same 3 users (I won't get into why now - it's a long story). When I am logged into Windows XP with...

Hello, I am wondering if it is possible to create a networked application with C# that is seen as a windows user. For example, if Bob logged onto windows and then started the application, any access to the network made through the application would be seen as 'C# application user' and not 'Bob'. What I want to accomplish is to create an encrypted folder on a server where files within the folder can be accessed through the application,...

Hi We have web app running successfully on a windows 2000 server. Certain Admin pages have the authentication turned on and contains an admin web.config file which lists the user/groups in the domain which should be allowed to access the page. In IIS, the website and the folder have the Integrated Windows Authentication turned on. Everything works fine - when a user browses to the Admin section, he gets a login prompt , with the correct user...

I am having problems using VB.Net's Management base object on a machine hosting Windows Server 2003. I am trying to set file permissions from a Windows Service. These files may be loacted on a local machine or somewhere on the network. I use the Management Base Object to set these permissions which works perfectly when the windows service is running on an XP machine. However, when the service is running on a Windows Server 2003 machine I...

I have wrriten a small windows service application in visual studio ..net 2003 which listens for incoming FTP files. These files would overwrite over time due to duplicate file names. However any time the windows service tries to rename the file (using flFile.move(source, destination)) it gets an error saying access is denied. The files are on the network, so we though the local system account may not have access We tried changing the...

Hi, I cannot create/drop databases from the command line, only from the GUI. Below is a detailed description of my installation and configuration attempts (sorry about the long post). I'm usually logged on to my PC as a domain user, IBE\ikovacs. As IBE\ikovacs, I'm member of my PC's Administrators group. There's also a local user Administrator, who's the default Windows admin user. I used that account (using runas) to install DB2...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...
