We have web site that used the IIS ResKit tool MSWC.PermissionChecker to
check file permissions. The web site has been upgraded and that upgrade
included changing the default server side language from VBScript to C#
(*.vbs --> *.cs).
Does C# have a native method for doing what MSWC.PermissionChecker used to
do?
If so has anyone gone through converting the MSWC.PermissionChecker method
to C# and would they share what they did?
If not...

I just reinstalled .NET 2003 (after repeated attempts to get ASP.NET
Web Applications to work). I first did a complete uninstall of .NET
2003, .NET Framework 1.1, and IIS. I also completely deleted
c:\inetpub\wwwroot and rebooted before reinstalling.
I created a new virtual directory from within IIS (e.g. MyWebTest).
Then I tried to create a new Visual C# ASP.NET Web Application
pointing to the location http://localhost/MyWebTest. I get...

What needs to be changes to make this work? It is on a Windows 2003 shared
server.
This code:

Hi everyone,
If anyone can help me with the following - I would be VERY grateful.
I need to deploy an 2 ASP.net applications that I've been creating onto
one of our live servers. Both applications use the Microsoft Enterprise
Library dlls and have them located in their respective bin directories.
Everything works fine on my development machine.

I've moved an existing site (which I didn't write) from a apache/php/mysql
host under windows to a linux apache/php/mysql host.
I've sorted out most problems except one.
There is an upload function on the site, which uploads files via POST to
temp folder and then moves it into a folder on the host using php function
move_uploaded_file. Under windows this works fine but on the linux host the
uploaded file is created with 600 permissions so...

I'm getting this error while trying to rename a file on my webserver
Microsoft VBScript runtime error '800a0046'
Permission denied
/pictures/testy.asp, line 11
Now I've gone and checked the permissions on the folder through the limited web utility my hosting service provides me and I've given the folder all possible permissions.

I saw a recent note here that user file uploads should be directed to a
subfolder of App_Data to avoid site recompilation each time a file is
uploaded. That worked fine on my development machine, but when I deployed to
a test site at my web host, it fails:
Access to the path '...\App_Data\PDFFiles\Filename.pdf' is denied.
How do I set permissions to allow writing a file into that folder? Is this
something I do in my page or site...

I thought I had this licked, but apparently not.
I have a file upload script that attempts to upload a file to a
directory in the public_html directory - www.domain.com/upload
The permissions for the directory have to be 777 for this to work or
esle it aborts with a permissions error - obviously a problem. The php
script runs as user 'nobody'.
Tech support is through email, and level one is not that bright, or at

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
