Blank White Windows on some programs

I have tried to search everywhere for solutions to this.
My problem is that on some programs, certain windows are blank white. An example: I installed Adobe Acrobat 8, also Adobe Reader 8. On both, the screen where it asks me to accept or decline the user agreement is blank, so I have no way of accepting. All I can do is click the X (close) button, which then tells me that I have declined the agreement and the program will close.
Another time this blank white screen shows up is on HP PrecisionScan Pro software. While the right-hand from which shows the preview of my scan works fine, the left-hand frame that is supposed to have the control buttons is blank white. I have seen others ask similar questions, and there seems to be a connection between this problem and another one I am having: the Help and Support icon in my Start menu won't work. When I click on it I get a brief hourglass, then nothing. Nothing opens, and no error message.

I have already tried downloading jscript.dll and vbscript.dll and have already gone thru the steps suggested at http://support.microso ft.com/kb/831430/en-us, with no luck
I have also already tried updating my graphic driver software (for Radeon X300).

Any other ideas??

And also: on some help menus, the right-hand frame that is supposed to have the actual help info, is blank white.

Nevermind. The problem was a bad installation of IE 7.

Thought some folks here might find this one interesting. No great revelations, just a fairly sensible piece on writing readable code :) The whole article: http://www.acmqueue.com/modules.php?name=Content&pa=showpage&pid=271&page=1 The section specifically on white space: http://www.acmqueue.com/modules.php?name=Content&pa=showpage&pid=271&page=3 Cheers,

Hi, Using IIS 5.0 and sometime some asp pages (absolutely randomly) showing as blank white pages. So far only one way of fixing it - restart whole server. Restarting IIS, or specific web server not helping, only whole server. I enable server side and client side debugging, but no errors showing up...

In VB.net, I have win form programs that do database update operations that take several minutes or longer. Several actions such as switching windows or clicking a control during these operations leave me with a blank form (all white space inside the form borders) or with a frozen form that will not display refreshed controls. When the db operations are done, the forms repaint just fine. What’s happening and what can I do about it?...

We have an odd situation with some of our single-threaded CPU-bound C++ programs. They run between 2 and 4 times faster on Windows XP than on windows Server 2003 on the same Xeon hyperthreading dual processor machine (we borrowed one from our IT department, and have been alternating these two operating systems on it.) Even more odd, if we run a Virtual PC with Windows XP on top of the Windows 2003 Server on the same Xeon machine, the...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
