DVD-Rom drive door problem

H e l p !
My DVD-Rom drive door closes by itself while I am trying to open it. It looks like this:
I press the Eject button, the DVD ejects half a way, then closes back in. Then I press the button again and so on, until finally it opens and stays that way.
It happens with both of my DVD drives, one of them is new (the old one did the same thing), so I don't think it's a hardware problem.
I have Win2K, use AntiVir antivirus (found no viruses).

Well, I could't find the update for this specific DVD-Rom model and OS (Win2K).

What kind of case are you using? Some cases come with covers for the cd/dvd drives and open with the drive but sometime they are not setup right and the drives can't open right so they close.

Also try ejecting the drive by right clicking on the drive in my computer and hitting eject see if the same thing happens.

This is not a case problem, and ejecting programmaticall y (i.e., Right Click -> Eject) has the same effect.

What's the Mfg name and model #?

You couldn't find the W2k driver - were there others (and for what OS/version)?

It could be that tray got mis aligned or the dvd or something is blocking the path of the tray.

You might have to take it out of the case and disconnect the cables, or you could open the dvd tray with no power but inserting something small like a paper clip in the hole that is somewhere in front of the dvd drive and the tray will unlock and you could pull out the tray gently and if it did not come out all the way as it suppose to then somethng could be blocking it

Hi there,

Try this:

remove the CD Drive or DVD drive from the system case.
remove the power from your HDD.
insert the power cable to your CD Drive or DVD drive, then boot up your PC.

-- This procedure will not boot to your Hard Drive but you will have a power to your CD or DVD Drive. You can try ejecting the tray and see if it's working properly.

Then you will know if there's a problem with your OS or your antivirus.

try checking your power cord also.

Hope this helps. Regards.

Hi, I am making a basic DVD shop and after having produced code which displays a list of DVDs from my database, I implemented a search facility which enables the user to search by title, director or actor. The user can also browse the DVDs by genre. However, when the DVDs are filtered, the id that is used to select a DVD and add it to the basket is incorrect as they are output in a sequential manner and so the DVD placed into the basket...

I have .net 2002 and just bought a dvd writer. I was wondering how I could backup all of the discs onto a single dvd. I have found one method for 2003. Basically, you edit the disc names in the setup.msi program to read the name of the dvd rather than the indivual names of the cds. Is this a reasonable method? Is there anything else that I might need to know. I will probably give it a try on a rewritable. I just thought that maybe...

Hello There, I obtained a visual studio .net which I installed a few months ago but then never had time to use. I obtained a new copy of the trial which is slightly newer. However, because I have lost my original installation DVD, I cannot remove the first installation to do a reinstall that will prompt me to enter a new activation code.

Hello, I'm wondering if anyone out there is aware of any .NET CD/DVD burning component. I'm really just interested in burning files to CD/DVD do I don't care about MP3/MPEG-2 support or anything like that. What I basically need is the ability to put files and folders onto the CD/ DVD. Ideally it would work on IOStreams so that I could do it all in memory with MemoryStream's. Some of the things I would like but are not necessary:

I am creating a project involving video files and I need to be able to offer the user the ability to burn the result to DVD. I don't need any fancy titles, transitions or anything. I know there are nice tools such as Nero, but it would be nice to keep it all within my application. Does anyone know how to do this? Are there any ActiveX components to help? Thanks -Jerry

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
