Microsoft C++ Visual Runtime Error

1 New Member
Hey,
I was just wondering if someone here could please do me the honor of helping me with this problem im having. I've been researching this for a week now and to of no avail, so im hoping someone here might be able to comprehend my situation. Ok here's my problem... I keep getting an error message concerning my media in my computer. Basically when i go to click on one of my video files and some of my music files i get this error message:

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library

Runtime Error!

Program: C:\ProgramFiles \Windows Media Player\wmplayer .exe

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.

Now i know very well that this has nothing to do with my media player, because I have tried to open the file in different players, and that it has more or less something to do with my DLL files, maybe something currupt or missing of sorts, but im not quit sure of which file or how to locate it. Im humbly asking you to please help me with this dilemma...im begining to loose hope .

Here is a list of things you should consider doing....

Download and reinstall directX

Download and reinstall your Video Drivers

Download and Reinstall your Sound Drivers

Update your windows media player to the latest version

Check your event log to see what is causing the problem

Scan your computer for viruses and finally if all fails do a repair of windows.

Good Luck, and let me know if there is anything else that comes up.

I'm getting the Visual runtime error aswell. I have tried downloading the newest drivers I could find for my video- and soundcard, latest version of DirectX etc.

Nothing seems to help. I am running Windows Media Center Edition 2005 (MCE 2005) and recently have installed a new TV-card (WinTV PVR-150) and plugged in a Western Digital My Book Pro. After this the runtime errors started. I have tried to do a systemrestore with windows from a week before I installed all the things I thought could cause the problem, didn't help.

The error only pops up whenever I view a folder that contains video files. With a folder that's filled with MP3s nothing happens. Also when a program scans a folder with video files in it the error occurs. For the DVD folder "Video_TS" it's okay, as long as I don't try to acces it with MCE....

Obviously this visual runtime erros is extremely irritating and I would love to get rid of it... I have tried everything I can think about: drivers, system restore, multiple virus scans even 'repair windows' with the windows cd ....

It would be greatly appreciated if someone could help me! (I'd like it if I didn't have to do a compleet sweep and re-install of windows...)

I get this error to on XP when I have compiled some VB code into an executable and run it. In VB design mode all is OK, just when the program is run from the executable and always at the same point in the program where a form is being loaded on top of an image file. There is no explicit code in the vb program that I can see is causing this. The program continues to run in the background, changing images in a slide show as its supposed to do but because the error window has the focus, I have to cancel the error which quits the program. What gets me is that the program is vb, why is this affecting a C++ DLL ?
Any suggestions most welcome.

Please don't resurrect dead threads, while that advice may be useful it doesn't really apply to this thread any more.

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
