Plesk 7.5.6 Windows server 2003 / perl help if possible

2 New Member
Hi all

I am a total noob and its my 2nd post, first of all thank you for letting me use these forums as a source of information, and hopefully once i get my head round perl i maybe able to help other noobs as well.

Ok, my problem is:

Windows Server 2003
Plesk for Windows 7.5.6
X-Cart Software (ecommerce solution)

I am trying to install xcart and it has installed fine no problems, however it asks for the path to perl which i have found after running a test.pl script no problems:

C:\PROGRA~1\SWs oft\Plesk\ADDIT I~1\Perl\bin;

C:\PROGRA~1\SWs oft\Plesk\ADDIT I~1\Perl\bin\;

if i put either of the 2 suggestions in the xcart software knocks it back.

I have asked Plesk for support and they told me to do a tester.pl file which i have uploaded and ran,

it reports

Hello, world!
and as far as they are concerned perl is working ok.

I then emailed xcart and gave them ftp access etc and they sent me an email back stating:

Thank you for the access info. I've examined your store settings and specified the path to perl as you say. Unfortunately that did not solvE the problem. After further investigation on your server I figured out that the PHP exec function gives 'Unable to fork' error for a simple command like: exec("C:\PROGRA ~1\SWsoft\Plesk \ADDITI~1\Perl\ bin\perl.exe", $output); So, I presume that there are not enough permissions set for the Perl directory. Therefore I suggest that you should consult with the hosting company and ask them on how to configure the proper permissions in this situation.
is there anyone on here that can point me in the right direction or offer any advice whatsoever to enable what the xcart support have said

tia

Hello, I have two different scripts that do pretty much the same thing. The main perl script is on Windows. It runs and in the middle of it, it then calls out another perl script that then should run on a Unix box I have. Both scripts run ok, except for the part when Windows try's to call out the Unix script. I have it set up where the Unix is mapped through a drive letter and can drop stuff into the Unix box. It is going through another...

I cannot access command line variables, e.g. $ARGV, using perl on a Windows 2003 server with service pack 2. Does anyone know of a bug or a work around? Here's my test.... when I enter "test.pl hi", I get "no arguments". #!c:\perl\bin\perl.exe #test.pl if (defined($ARGV)) { print "input parm=$ARGV\n";

Hi folks, As a mod in the ASP Forum I'm fairly proficient in server administration stuff. I've taken the initiative of getting a virtual dedicated server with GoDaddy (whom I believe are fairly well-known in this field). I tried to install Exchange Server 07 on my "machine" but it failed for some unknown reason (something to do with local file paths which I was unable to fix). So I took the Plesk control panel add-on which gave me mail...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
