Hi,
Is it possible to create a network-drive at the SYSTEM-level? E.g.: map X:
to \\server1\share so a windows service can reach X: without having to log
on? I want a Windows .NET service to collect files from a UNIX-share (mapped
to X:) that is exposed to windows using Hummingbird-software.

Hello,
I converted an Access application that used to have a MDE front-end
(distributed to each user) with a MDB back-end on a share. It now has a
MDE front-end with linked ODBC SQL Server 2000 tables as the back-end.
Is it a bad practice to place the MDE front-end on a network share
instead of sending a copy to each user? I want to do this as a form of
cheap security, since the network share has access control on it.
Previously, the...

I have to copy files from one network share folder to another (both are
on different remote machines). Server running this asp.net appllication
is not configurable (except web.config), while network forlers requires
passwords.
The ideal solution would allow me to simply write File.Copy (from, to,
true).
I thought of two possibilities: either map a network folder inside the
asp.net application or connect to the server that contail...

Hi guys
Okay, I've setup my projects to open and compile fine in VS2005 using FPSE
and remote web, but it's *really* slow. So I thought I'd have a go at doing
it the normal way, by loading from the network share.
It loads in VS2005 fine, and I can edit and save code changes etc, but when
I try and Build the solution, I get the following error...

We're in the process of writing a new Windows Forms app and the desktop
support folks want for it to be run from a network share. I know it's
possible (i.e., just have the framework on the clients and a desktop
shortcut to the exe out on the network)... but is it really a good idea?
What are some arguments for and against running a .NET Windows Forms client
from a network share? Here is my initial list... I'd appreciate any
additions,...

G'day group.
Currently our organization us using VB6 based applications, and I am
trying to push forward and migrate some of the smaller things to
VB.NET, eventually migrating all applications from VB6 and other legacy
languages/systems (Pure VBScript, DataEase, etc.) over to .NET.
Currently, *all* user data is stored on network shares. When a user
logs in to a workstation, their home drive is mounted from one share,
all of their...

I created a pretty basic program based on the "Windows Forms Application"
template using C++ in VS 2005. When I run the program from my local system
it runs properly (do happy dance), now when I copy the same program to a
network share (I have a drive mapped to it) and execute the same program I
get an error message that reads
=== Start Error Pop-up Window ===
Reporter.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We

Hi,
We have a legacy asp application that uses a third party component to upload
a file and saves it to a secure network share. The code sets the credentials
for the secure network share on the third party component.
I want to do something similar from C# code and save a file to the secure
network share by setting the credentials to access the network share in code
rather than running the C# code under the user account that has access...

My situation is that I need to upload files through a C# .NET web application to a file server. I done a search and followed some advice on how to set it up.
My environment is Windows 2003 file server, Windows 2000 web service (IIS) and .NET v1.1.4.
So far I've done this.

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...
