Hello group!
I'm having a problem and I hope some of you may be able to point me in the
right direction.
I inherited a web site using php, running on Windows 2000 & IIS. The site
was developed by a consulting firm about a year before I came on board, the
consultant has since gone out of business. Overall, I've never had a
problem with the site and have been able to figure out nearly everything
they configured on it.

Many thanks to all who replied to my previous post regaring proper
installation of phpMyAdmin on unix/apache.
Okay, I thought I had correctly followed all the steps to
password-secure the directory where I installed phpMyAdmin on my RedHat9
machine running apache, but I must be missing something:
1. Create a directory in /var/www/html to place the files.
2. Load the files.
3. Check the index.php and make sure it pretty much all works...

I'm having trouble with security on an A97 database.
First, yes I've read the white paper several times, followed all the
directions, and got security established correctly (or so I thought). There
are two problems, however.
One just occurred in the past couple of days. I added a new feature to a form,
which is a button that pops up a new form showing some summary data. The popup
form has a query as its recordsource, and the run...

Greetings all!
I am aiming to set up simple permissions for users on a database here
at work, to the effect that certain users should be restricted from
opening certain forms and reports. I tried setting up groups and
permissions, but found that users were still able to open forms I had
thought would have been restricted. I then tried the security wizard,
and found that TOO restrictive, especially if I find another job and
am not...

Hello,
In one of my asp.net applications I test the existence of a file, like so:
File.Exists(Server.MapPath("/path/file.jpg")));
This was failing, even though the path returned by Server.MapPath was
clearly present. After some debugging, I discovered that the the asp.net
account didn't have permission to execute File.Exists. Apparently
File.Exists simply returns "false" instead of throwing an exception if
it doesn't have the...

Hello PHP Group,
I am having trouble setting permissions correctly so that the
magickwand api (php 5.2) can read and
write images. I usually read a file from one directory, create a
magickwand resource from that file,
and transform the image, and save the new image with a new name to a
different directory.
I have seen that my file and folder permissions when set incorrectly,

Firstly, I'm not sure if this is the right group for this query, so
please forgive me if I am wrong.
My problem is that most users I distribute my software to cannot
install it on their systems due to not having the correct
administrator rights. I'm perplexed over this as I cannot reasonably
ask corporations to allow the local secretary to have admin or power
user rights just to install my software.
My software is intended for user...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
