In the context of LATEX, some Pythonista asked what the big
successes of Lisp were. I think there were at least three *big*
successes.
a. orbitz.com web site uses Lisp for algorithms, etc.
b. Yahoo store was originally written in Lisp.
c. Emacs
The issues with these will probably come up, so I might as well
mention them myself (which...

I want to display memory content using C++ on LINUX. For example, the
user may ask to display 256 bytes from 0x1000ff00. The problem is , if
any location is invalid, the program will coredump because of attempt
to access invalid memory.I understand that in Windows OS there is a
function that tells if a memory location is valid or invalid. Is...

Hi,
why does the memory consumption of the program attached below increase
steadily during execution? Shouldn't vector::reserve() allocate one
large memory chunk of memory that doesn't change anymore?
CPU: Pentium III Coppermine (Celeron)
OS: Slackware LINUX 9.1 with kernel 2.4.22
Compiler: 3.2.3
Compile command: g++ -O0 -o foo foo.cpp

I finally narrowed down my code to this situation, quite a few (not all) of
my CMyClass objects got hold up after each run of this function via the
simple webpage that shows NumberEd editbox. My memory profile shows that
those instances survive 3 rounds of GC collections - it's not what I
expected. In my real code, CMyClass occupies big...

Having fixed a memory leak (not the leak of a Python reference, some
other stuff I wasn't properly freeing in certain cases) in a C-coded
extension I maintain, I need a way to test that the leak is indeed
fixed. Being in a hurry, I originally used a q&d hack...:
if sys.platform in ('linux2', 'darwin'):
def _memsize():
""" this function...

Hi
I have a JS program that runs localy (under IE6 only) on a PC but it has
a memory leak (probably the known MS one!)
What applications are there that I could use to look at the memory usage of
each object within my JS app to help locate my problem?
Thanks

Hi expert,
I installed DB2 v8.2 server on Solaris 9 box. When I connect to DB2
using control centre or other applications(except command line),
around 12 db2sysc processes pop up and each one consumes more than 2G
memory(total 30G memory). The server only has 8G physical memory, so
DB2 costs too many memory resources. I tried to reduce the...

I am writing a service that monitors when a particular app is started.
Works, but I need to get the user who is currently logged in, and of course
Environment.UserName returns the service logon (NT_AUTHORITY\SYSTEM).
I understand that when the service starts, no user may be logged in, but
that's ok, as the app I am monitoring can only be run...

Hello, I am running DB2 V8.2 on AIX. I am looking for a way to get
the memory size of a specific db2 agent. I have found the db2mtrk
tool that gives me a list of all the applications and heap sizes.
Also there is "DB2 Snapshot for Application" but I am looking for a
way to capture the data for C code without having to parse through a
file. ...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then...
