How to make only a form visible to users and not the whole data base.

4 New Member
Hi, I'd like to know if it is possible to have a form containing a number of buttons that run query searches for showing availability of members on specific days as the only visible part of the access DB.

This is for a small Museum and we don't want every one getting into the DB.

I have tried as in my previous question 2 weeks ago, which I cannot find, DoMenuItem and RunComd without success. I really don't want to go down the road of lots of accounts and passwords.
Could a macro of some type help?
Putting the form into a html page still opens the whole DB.
We are using Access 2003.

Hi

Thanks for the reply - at least someone has seen my question.

I haven't been able to locate anything other than this thread.
No answers yet.

Looks like it might be impossible?

Would it be more likely that Access in a more recent version like 2007 be able to do what I want?

@Essnell
The form is always going to open within the Access database window. If you don't want anyone to have access to the tables, etc. then you need to make a locked version of the file which will display only the forms (but still inside the Access window).

Hi, I am using Access2000 and have developed a data base which successfully uses DAO code in some of the forms to update tables. Recently I converted the data base to a split MDE data base and now get errors in the DAO methods. IE: Dim Rst As DAO.Recordset Set Rst = CurrentDb.OpenRecordset("TableName") Rst.Index = "IndexName"

Hi all, Not sure if this is possible, but can I change the controls of a command button on a per record bases in a subform. In my case, I would like to make a command button visible only if certain fields in a table are a certain value. The buttons are adjacent to each record (i.e. - if there are 5 records, there would be 5 buttons; 10 records, 10 buttons; etc.) Here is the subroutine I've written so far: Public Sub IsButtonVisible()

Greetings. I have three forms that are open at the same time. They are related and cascading. The first form (frmEventAdd) is the anchor. Each event can have many Trials. The second form is frmTrialInfo. Each Trial can have three Classes. The third form is frmClassInfo. These forms are used for update and adding new records. The user displays an event for update (frmEventAdd). Then clicks on a button to display the Trials for that event...

I have a form with a bunch of image buttons. When the user moves the mouse over a button, I want to do two things: 1. change the Imagebutton's picture, and 2. make another control visible. I'm using the Imagebutton.Attributes.Add("onMouseOver","this.src = 'somepicture.jpg') and that works fine. I've tried some java script to change the other control's visible property by changing is className, but that doesn't seem to work

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
