Picturebox drawing resolution

17 New Member
Hi everyone,

I have a drawn picturebox image in Visual Basic 6.0 which I would like to save to disk.
I can do that through the SavePicture(Pic tureBox.Image, "filepath") function.

Yet this produces unaccaptable large pictures of 600 dpi, 32 bit color whereas 100 dpi 16 bit color would be more than enough.

I've been searching a lot how to change the resolution of the bitmap, alas I cannot find a way. There are examples on the net about resizing a picture (through PaintPicture()) but this doesn't work with a "hand"-drawn picturebox image since PaintPicture() only accepts the .Picture property (which is empty, as opposed to the available .Image property).

Does anyone know if there's a method to change the resolution of the written files, or maby a way to convert the .Image to a .Picture?

Any help is much appreciated.

Kind regards,
Michiel Koot

I have created a PictureBox control which can have it's Image property directly bound to an image field in a database. This works perfectly for showing the images that are in the database. When I paste a new image into my control, it shows the new image and updates the image property. Problem is... It doesn't update the bound field! Any thoughts as to what I've done wrong? Any help would be greatly appreciated. The code for the...

Problem: The PictureBox display appears to have the image cut off. I.e., the image bottom does not display although the PictureBox has room for it. It occurred to me that what was displayed was the same size as the PictureBox was before it was resized. So I figured the bitmap was too small and tried to increase it's size as shown below. Two things: First it didn't fix the problem. Secondly, I'm not sure I've done it correctly and...

Dear All, This may sound like an elementary question but how do you implement scrollbars for the Picturebox control. Do I have to create my own code to do this or is there some property that I can set? Thank you very much for your time and consideration in this matter! Christopher Koeber

Hi! I've been trying to draw in a PictureBox and save the resulting image to a Bitmap object that I save to a file on disk. Unfortunately, I can't seem to get the elements that I'm drawing to appear in the file. To make sure that I'm getting something that actually is from the PictureBox, I set the background color of the PictureBox and that's all that appears in the file (I use Windows Preview). Below is the code extract that I used...

Any help appreciated. (VB.NET under XP and Vista, SP1 installed) My code, inherited from a VB6 version of an app that ran under W98, loads an image from a file into a PictureBox. The user may want to move or delete the file that is being shown. The corresponding event- driven code for "delete this picture" uses: My.Computer.FileSystem.DeleteFile(sPath)

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
