Removing icons from system tray

Hi all, does anyone know how to remove an icon(of some other application) from the system tray without the process of that application being affected?

can SHELL_NOTIFYICO N be used for this purpose?i've seen examples of using it to add, delete and modify our own icons(mostly the form's icon),but not icons of other external applications.
does anyone know how to do it?

Recently reinstalled mySQL v1.4 on Win2000. When my Win2000 OS boots up I see the mySQLadmin dialog twice, and then two icons appear in the system tray. I can kill one, and the other continues to do it's job. Tried setting the Windows mySQL service to manual startup and restarted windows - no joy. Any idea what causes this behavior, and how to rectify it?

I'm trying to create Images/Bitmaps during runtime and converting them to icons so I can use them for the NotifyIcon class. I searched but couldn't find anything about this. I know all about creating images and editing them...it's the "getting the image to the tray" part that's getting me. Thanks

I have an application (.exe) that is running in the system tray. When a message arrives: the icon in the system tray is to change so that the user knows a message has arrived. My question is: how can I deploy .ico files with an application? I would like to just send the people the .exe file and they can run that on their computer. Is this possible? What code would I need to ensure this? This works locally on my machine, but I...

Is there a way to keep the icons placed by my application into the tray area always visible? I'm using the trayicon from vbaccelerator that directly calls the Win32 API. If I'm not mistaken I can set a flag to tell windows not to hide my icon when inactive. How can I do that? Thanks a lot. Andrea

In VB.NET, the NotifyIcon can be used to create a tray icon. But how can you search for a tray icon from another application? I need to be able to enumerate the tray icons, searching for one with, e.g., a particular Text property. Thanks.

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
