Hi guys,
Is there any way to refresh the system tray. Every time
the explorer crashes the notify icons are removed and I
cannot see them when it comes back even when my
application is running.
I could not find any code to refresh the system tray in
the KB articles

Does anyone know how to put a textbox in the windows tray or taskbar (a
la google desktop search)
There is plenty of info on how to make your app. appear as an icon in
there but not adding custom controls to that area.

Hello,
I have often seen system tray icons that you click on and a popup menu
appears. Is it possible to do this in Visual basic.net or are there any
controls that allow this to be achieved.
Thanx in advance.

What sizes can the system tray icons be?
I have a utility that I display a number as an icon. I do it by using drawstring into the icon
bitmap and displaying it. It is fine as long as the number is only 2 digits but when it hits 3 the
text runs off the end of the icon and you cant see it anymore. I get around this by making the font
smaller but it makes it hard to read then.
An ideal way would be to do something like the clock does but...

When I add a USB key, system tray icon on Windows XP shows USB icon. It also
shows icon that can be used to "Safely Remove Hardware". I would like to use
this icon in one of my Visual C++ application.
All I could find is that I can use LoadStandardIcon() call in Windows to
expose very few Standard icons, which includes default application icon,
information icon, warning icon, error icon, question mark icon and
exclamation point icon.

I'm trying to write a piece of software in C++ which will display a
clock in the windows system tray. I am able to create icons there,
but i am not sure whether it is possible to write text there, similar
to how the windows clock works.
I have seen various freeware apps which do this so i assume there must
be a method, but i am having difficulty locating information on how to
code it.
Any help would be much appreciated.

I am using VS2005 (vb) and I have a program that starts when Windows boots
up. Occasionally the icon that should appear in the system tray does not
show up. The program is still running in memory but the tray icon is not
there. If I start the program after Windows has booted up the icon shows
every time. I am assuming that the reason is due to the icon being created
before the system tray is loaded/running. I have used a timer with...

I am looking for a way to either run a program in the system tray, or
(ideally) replace the system clock with my own custom clock app. I
know I can use NotifyIcon to put an icon in the tray, but I'm limited
to a 16x16 icon with this solution. I am working on a clock app that
needs more space. Any suggestions/advice appreciated.
Thanks,
David Hamilton

Hi all, does anyone know how to remove an icon(of some other application) from the system tray without the process of that application being affected?
can SHELL_NOTIFYICON be used for this purpose?i've seen examples of using it to add, delete and modify our own icons(mostly the form's icon),but not icons of other external applications.
does anyone know how to do it?

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
