Cannot connect to database using VB 2005 Express

32 New Member
Hello,

I am developing a windows application in Vb 2005 Express and Sql Server express
I have created a database in sqlserver called "mydb"
I want to connect the desktop VB application to this and create two screens, say employees and projects
This seems to be very non-intuitive

I need a design time connection as I am using DataGridViews, in my application

My screens are not updatting data in the main database. VB keeps asking me, if i want to create a local file for the database. Whether i create a local file or not , the data does not get updated in either the local or the main database.

I just want a simple connection, nothing fancy.

Please help me get through this problem,
Thanks and regards

I'm pretty new to both sql 2005 and VB but please bear with me. I have installed SQL 2005 express on a Windows 2003 Standard server. I have also installed VB 2005 Express edition on the server. SQL seems to be running fine (I can create databases, tables, modify them, etc.) I have created a very basic app in VB express that just lets me view and modify the current tables. It works just fine on the server. However, I am trying to make...

I was able to view table content easily before, but after I reinstalled everything, I cannot find the option to view table content in MS SQL Server Express. I can define table with no problem. Check out the screen snapshot below, from which you'll see that the popup menu frrom right-clicking on the table name does not have the "Open table" option. What is going on? http://farm1.static.flickr.com/167/426251515_b839620d0b_o.png

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
