Hello All,
I have been working on this for almost a week now and I haven't anything up
my sleeves anymore that I could test in addition or change....
Since I am not sure, if this is a Windows 2003 Server or ADO or ODBC issue,
I am posting this on all of the three newsgroups.
That's the setup:
Windows 2003 Server with IIS and ASP.NET actiavted
Access 2002 mdb file (and yes, proper rights are set on TMP paths and path,

It is just me or has MS created some of the worst ways to access and display
data?
You can use a DataSet, but if you want to sort or filter the data to must
use a DataView which is created from a DataSet.
But, if you sort by using the Grid (clicking the header) you can no longer
use the DataSet (or maybe the DataView, if that is what you are using) to
locate the record that the user has selected!!

Hi,
How can I use a MS-Access DB in a computer without Access installed? I
read something about a "runtime" utility, but I don't know how to use
it.
Any help?
Thanks

I am a .NET/C++ developer who is supposed to do some work with Access.
I do not know much about it except for the DB part.
Questions:
*1*
I am looking for INTENSIVE books to get quickly up to speed.
I like books with practical exercises, and also with test questions (like
cert books)

It has been suggested to me (by a potential client) that my app (which he is
considering buying) should be web enabled to improve performance,
particularly regarding screen refreshes.
My initial reaction was to say "No' (I was cringing at the time), 'cos I
just don't want to do it. But after a reality check, I thought that I should
consult the experts, so here I am.
Is there any reason to expect my access 2002 application to run any...

Some time a ago, on this newsgroup the following comments were made in

good references for Access (2003)

The Joy of Interoperability
Sometimes a revolution in programming forces you to abandon all that's
come before. To take an extreme example, suppose you have been writing
Visual Basic applications for years now. If you're like many
developers, you will have built up a substantial inventory of code in
that time. And if you've been following...

I'm moving to .Net framework 2.0 from Visual Studio 2002/3 with more time on
desktop apps than ASP.Net, although I have done a small amount in ASP.Net. Is
best practice for ASP.Net now to use the components for data access, or to
build your own connection and command objects in code? I find working with
the designer to be awkward and hard to follow the details, and would like to
know if I really should get used to doing things with...

Hi Guys,
Any help offered on the below 2 queries (mind the pun) is gratefully received.
1) I'm constucting a db of betting results data. Each bet as a whole is called a "position" and every position has an underlying component. so Comps and Positions have a many-to-1 relationship respectively. This is because certain bets are parlays/multiples which means they can be made up of say 3 individual bets which are the components but the entire...

I hate to cross post, but I've gotten no answer yet on a problem I'm having
with visual studio 2008.
I've created a series of forms with controls to access a Access database
tables. The connection string works fine and the tables are added to the
project without a problem.
When I create the tables they appear to bind and I am able to preview the
data in the database in design mode; however, at runtime no data is
displayed and the...

ONU (Optical Network Unit) is one of the key components for providing high-speed Internet services. Its primary function is to act as an endpoint device located at the user's premises. Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
