I am currently taking a college course in Visual Basic.Net and I am a
beginner.
I bought Visual Studio.Net 2003 to do my homework at home. I built my
first project and e-mailed it to myself at school. When I tried to
open it in the lab, I got a message saying I couldn't open it because
it was created with a newer version. Evidently the lab is using Visual
Studio.Net 2002.
My professor doesn't just want the executable file, he wants...

I'd like to purchase Visual C# .Net for learning purposes only since it's a
lot cheaper than Visual Studio (note that I'm a very experienced C++
developer). Can someone simply clarify the basic differences. Ok, Visual
Studio has C++, VB and J++ thrown in plus some extra bells and whistles (I
already have some minimal experience) but are both IDE's essentially the
same (including the same IDE support for creating forms, ADO.NET DataSets,...

There seems to be a lot of confusion on the versions of Visual Studio 2005.
My latest blog entry covers the different versions:

I am not a .NET developer. I want the Developer's Edition of Visual Studio
for use with my Access2000 databases. Does anyone have a clue as to where
to find it - my office manager says only .NET is available from any websites
she's searched. Anybody have a used copy they'd like to get rid of?
Is/should it be impossible to get hold of this product? My understanding
is that .NET doesn't offer that much as far as Access development is...

I'm currently experiencing a strange phenomenon:
At my Office, Visual Studio takes a very long time to compile our solution
(more than 1 minute for the first project).
At home, Visual Studio compiles the same solution much faster (about 10
seconds for the first project).
My home computer is only marginally faster than the one I have at the office
(P4 2.53 vs. P4 2.4, same amount of RAM).
On the slow machine, the CPU usage is very low,...

Some documentation on the WSE 2.0 package states
that Kerberos support is for Windows Server 2003 and
Windows XP SP1 only :
"Kerberos token support has been added if you are running
on Windows Server 2003 or Windows XP with Service Pack 1,
and are running in a Windows Active Directory® network
environment that supports Kerberos."
Is this speaking to the server-side only? Shouldn't a

I've established user login identity impersonation and delegation for a
multi-tier web application. I'm running into a case where authentication
fails when a user accesses the app from a browser on one machine, but not
from another machine.
The relevant details -- in both cases, all of the following are in effect:
Same user account.
Same web application, same IIS host.
Client OS is XP Pro SP2.

Why do we have to contact MS for a problem that has been with this
compiler from at least the beta of VS 20005. I am so sick and tired of
the 30 - 40 clicks it takes to dismiss VS when there is a problem. Can
they not just post the fix. I see no reason to contact MS since I have
most likely sent about 1500 dumps to them and I would think this would
get their attention.

I have seen the terms Visual Basic 2005 and VB.NET. It seems that sometimes
they seem to be referring to the same thing but sometimes they are not. I
also run into terms like VB9 and VB10.

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
