Using a "where condition" with DoCmd.OpenForm

7 New Member
I am trying to open the form "frmClients_Mai n" to the record that is specified by the end user. Here is the code:

----------------------------------------------------------
Public Function IDSearch()
'This function allows the user to open the main form to a particular client record.

Dim stSql As String
Dim stInput As String

'InputBox prompts user to enter client ID for the form they wish to open.
stInput = InputBox("Enter Client ID", "Search for Client ID", "Client ID")

'open form to record that matches the client ID entered by user.
DoCmd.OpenForm "frmClients_Mai n", acNormal, , "[ClientID]='" & stInput & "'", acFormEdit

End Function
---------------------------------------------

I’m trying to use a “where condition” to specify this, but when I run the code above I get another inputbox that prompts me to “enter parameter value” for ClientID. If I enter the clientID at this 2nd prompt, then I am able to open the form to the specified record.

Does anyone know what needs to be corrected in the syntax above? I’ve been searching online, but haven’t found any solution that works yet.

Thanks.

Never mind, I fixed it. I was referring to a field as "ClientID" when it was actually "Client_ID" (with an underscore).

I'm not exactly sure how to even ask the question, and I know my terminology is not good as I'm a SQL beginner, but, here goes. I need to find a way to make an if statement within an array...or, the "while" portion of a recordset. The best way I can ask is show what I mean. http://oscarguy.mechphisto.net/awardbrowse.php If you go there and select an award (like Best Picture), leave the year field alone, and select YES and submit,...

Dear Masters of XML As I'm new to XML Schema I dare to ask a possibly recurring question: Given an element <elem> with two attributes @a and @b. The attributes are bound by the condition, that either both or none must be present, i.e. <elem a="val_a" b="val_b"/> or <elem/> is valid, whilst

Hi, Simple version of the question..... How do I use the where clause of the open form command to show an account with a matching ID to be displayed when the form is opened? Eg. I select a record on a continuous form and click and edit button. The button runs the open form code. I want the APPID of the current record on the continous form to match the APPID of the record viewed

Hello, Is there any by which I can write a SQL to get the 4th largest salary from a table without using "join" and without using "where" clause. Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
