Permissions issue on windows XP

5 New Member
I have a user who is running window XP sp2 and has IE7 installed.

They download and install my vb 6 program. When they run the program for the first time, the software saves a bunch of configuration files to unique locations due to the nature of the software.

One of the locations is the User's Folders area that has the folder "All Users/Application Data." On all other machines, xp and vista machines, this works fine.

When it comes to this particular computer, the software throws an error that I have tracked down to a permissions issue. For whatever reason, the computer is not letting the program write to that All Users / Applications Data folder. Typically, my software creates it's own folder under there and then adds files appropriately. The folder is not being created by the software and thus the files can't be saved either.

Any ideas? I've tried modifying the ie7 download restrictions and using the "unblock" feature on properties after the file is downloaded but the error still occurs.

There is an MS-SQL table named Bugs_Comments_and_Suggestions. There is a form named Bugs_Comments_and_Suggestions. To allow John Doe to use this form, we GRANT him LOGIN and ACCESS permissions to the db and SELECT permissions on the stored procedure which is the record source for the BOUND form. To allow John Doe to "UPDATE, INSERT, DELETE" using the BOUND form, we GRANT John Doe "UPDATE, INSERT, DELETE" permissions on the table,

What permissions must a user have to be able to succesffuly execute a Process.Kill? I can run it with Admin privleges but not with regular user priveleges - I get an "Access is Denied." The client should be able to run our software was a regular user, so what additional permission must I grant that user for this to work? thanks!

Hello Everyone, I have been working on setting up a windows 2003 machine with IIS 6.0.The web server has the web directory on a UNC share on a windows 2003 server.I want to migrate websites from a windows 2000 machine to this one using the migration tool. The problem with doing this is the migration tool does not migrate the FPSE user permissions across.Part of the problem I am sure is that the windows 2000 machine has the FPSE user permissions...

Hi, I'm having an issue with permissions using the System.DirectoryServices namespace at a customer site. It's an ASP.net app that is using windows integrated security. One of the functions that it does is enumerate domain user names and return this list to the client. If I log into a remote machine as a domain admin, everything works fine, but if I log in with more restricted user account, I get:

We have a Windows 2000 server with Beta 2 of the 2.0 Framework installed and the 1.1 Framework. For some odd reason when we hit our 2.0 Framework application we get the following error: Server Application Unavailable The web application you are attempting to access on this web server is currently unavailable. Please hit the "Refresh" button in your web browser to retry your request. Administrator Note: An error message detailing the...

Hi everyone, This is not the forum for Windows permissions, but I figure this has to be an issue one of you access experts has had to deal with. I have an XP system with an access db on it. The directory has permissions so that the warehouse user can read/write. Everything works great until I log in as admin and open the access database. When the database closes it compacts and rewrites itself to the directory. Now the permissions on...

Hello all, I have searched far and wide for a solution to my issue. In short, here is the problem: 1. 3 PC's enter data into an Access 2003 database (PC's are running Vista w/ Office 2007 pro). The database has been used for a long time and we haven't upgraded it to a 2007 version database. 2. One of the PC's hosts the "master" database, the 2 others are using Replica's of "master" database. At the end of each work day, the...

I have an odd permissions issue with uploading files to a windows 2003 server. I have a reasonably unusual setup. We have a php website, running through IIS that was written to use mod_rewrite. Obviously, this doesn't exist in IIS, so as a workaround, I have the .net isapi dll as a wildcard handler for the site, with the rewriting done by .net, which then passes the processng back to the php pages. So far so good. When I attempt to...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
