I am used to programming in DOS mode via Borland C++. I would now like
to create programs for the Windows envirinment. Is it absoultely
necessary to use Visual C++ to do this? Are there other tools that can
help me in doing Windows programming via C++? How am I going to create
drop-down menus and allow my programs to interact with the mouse?

I'm wondering if anyone knows where I can learn a good programming
method for creating windows apps. I'm just starting to learn windows
programming with MSVC++ 6.0. I want to learn low level windows
programming in C first. I don't want to learn any bad habits by
hacking away at code until I get something to work.
Specifically, I'd like to learn how to set up and plan out a C windows
project and break it down into pieces of code that will...

Hello!
I am looking for a beginners tutorial on how to program for windows in C.
I guess this is windows API?
I have never written outside of VC++ for windows, and can't find any
examples. I don't think that this is a DevC++ specific question.
I have written a simple application which locates duplicate files; it first
compares file sizes, and then runs an SHA-256 (might switch to Adler 32)

I have been googling, but can seem to find out about C GUI libraries.
My main platform is Windows, but it would be nice to find a cross platform
library.
I've been programming with php, which has a C/C++ syntax structure, but want
to move on to compliled languages.
I was all ready to go with C++ and wxWindows, but I'm applying for an entry
level programming possition. They use their own propriatary language, with

Hi,
I was going through Mr "Richard heathfields" site , it is written as
follows:-
Some people think C has no role to play in the modern programming
world. I would consider this opinion to have rather more validity if
it weren't for the fact that even those who express it use C code on a
daily basis (whether they realise it or not). C programs and libraries
are woven into the very fabric of the modern programming world, and

There are many languages around: C++, JAVA, PASCAL, and so on. I
tried to learn C++ and JAVA, but ended up criticizing them. Is it
because C was my first programming language?
I like C because, comparatively, it is small, efficient, and able to
handle large and complex tasks.
I could not understand why people are using and talking about other
programming languages.

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...
