Automate Java/Firefox actions from VB

62 New Member
Hello Everyone.
I read about this way to add a reference to VB project of MS HTML Object library. Then it allows you to automate IE actions.

On similar lines, can one also automate Java applet / Java web start application actions ? If yes, can someone please share a few links / examples ? I will also like to try the same for Firefox [my attempts to add the xpcom.dll into a standard VB project failed :-( ].

I'm using Visual Basic 6.0 (and I'm not an expert at it).

Thank you in advance for the replies.

Does python provide a way to dynamically use modules and/or classes? I'm thinking in the vein of Java's Class.forName. As a pseudocode example, I'm looking for the following ability: classIWantToInstantiate = "packagenamehere.classNameHere" anInstanceOfThatClass = makeNewClassFromString(classIWantToInstantiate, parameters)

On comp.lang.java.programmer we are discussing problems created for Java programs by pop-up blockers (in the thread "showDocument blocked by new microsoft pop-up blocker"). Our problem is that Java's showDocument method, which opens new browser windows, is blocked by some pop-up blockers. The showDocument method is blocked even if the user clicked a button in a Java program to call showDocument. As a result, a type of user-initiated...

I would like to write a program that will automate the configuation of a firewall or router via HTTPS. So, I need to import the applicable certificate, and be able to configure the unit as if I was typing/selecting the appropriate fields manually using a web browser. If there is a command-line based tool that would allow me to do this, I would be more than willing to give it a try. Otherwise, is there a Python library that would do the...

I have an update panel that has the UpdateMode set to "Conditional". When I call UpdatePanel1.Update() in the VB code it does not work in FireFox. It works just fine in Internet Explorer 6.0. Any ideas on how to fix it so it works in FireFox 2.0.0.14?

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
