Data Environment Designer in VB 6.0

15 New Member
I cannot seem to use the Data Environment Designer. I have gone to Components under the Designers Tab, but it is not available. All I get is "Addin Class", "Data Report", "DHTML Page", "Microsoft Forms 2.0 Form" and "Web Class" as options. Any Ideas?

I am developing a Windows Forms application in VB.NET that will use .NET remoting to access the data tier classes. A very simple way I have come up with is by creating typed (.xsd) datasets. For example dsParts.xsd and including that in the data tier. I then will create a class that looks like this Public Class CPart Inherits dsParts

I like the drag-and-drop accessibility of dragging a table to a Web Forms designer and seeing a SqlDataAdapter automatically created for me.. being able to create a DataSet from that is fun and exciting, because now with this schema based data outline Visual Studio provides me with a typed class for managing data complete with Intellisense menus exposing my own field names as C# object properties ... cool .. Anyway, I have a problem. I...

Preface: Not to sound mean or arrogant, but please don't answer this question unless you have a specific and tested answer. I'm saying this only because I posted the same quesion earlier and got spammed by this so-called Microsoft MVP that gave me a very vague answer, followed by a series of incorrect answers that I had already mentioned were tried, tested and failed. Sorry I had to start my post like that : - ) but here goes my actual...

Hello, Sorry for the cross-posting, I first posted this message to the vb.6 NG (wrong group) <g>. Are there any add-in or tools out there (for VB.NET ) that would allow one to drag and drop database fields onto a form. (similar to the DataEnvironment in vb.6) ? I am looking for one that could set the validation rules for each TextBox based on the definition of the fields in the tables

Hi, I have an application that has a "Data Access Class" and "User Interface Class". It is for receiving Purchase Order data from one system and pushing processed transactions to another system. The system generally works quite well. Currently the User interface calls for a refresh of data every 15 minutes (selectable) and the Data Access Class connects to the DB and retrieves the

I'd like to get some feedback on the issue of storing data out to disk and where to store it. I've never been in a production environment in programming so you'll have to bear with me... My question is about storing data in a database. Yes I understand that you can link to a database in your program and read and write to the database etc etc. Well, that's all find and dandy but what if the person you're writing the application for...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
