Not sure about the parent/child thing, but turning off the ControlBox property will remove the "x button".

Or you can just cancel the unload attempt in the Form_QueryUnloa d event. But if you do this, make sure you check UnloadMode. If you just cancel every attempt to unload the form, your application can never finish.

Hi Killer,

Control box property has well worked but I also want to do same with MDI form.

I did not find any control box property for MDI form but I really want to make invisible all three control buttons for it.

With Unload event I have to code for multiple conditions moreover it won't look good in user's perspective.

How can I achieve that. can you help

Sorry, haven't worked with MDI forms in many, many years.

It might be a good idea to start a new thread to ask specifically about the MDI form issue. A lot of people probably won't bother looking at this one now, because it already has a ton of replies.

Hi I am faced with the following problem: I have a page (let’s call this page page1.aspx) containing some TextBoxes and a hyperlink which opens another page (let’s call this page page2.aspx) as a popup using either window.open or window.showModalDialog. Since I want to warn the users of my application when they try to close page1.aspx and have changed the values in the meantime I thought about using the “onbeforeunload” event of the...

I want to prevent a user from closing an application while doing critical operations. The following code (concept came from MSDN) works except for when the user attempts to terminate via "Task List" which causes "Program not responding"...press "Cancel" and no issues, press "End now" and sure enough it ends. My question is; is there any method to prevent the "Application not responding" message from appearing? Current code:

Hello, I really believe that IE 6 has a new (intentional?) bug that severely limits the capability of dhtml and cross domain scripting. Yesterday, I read an interesting article about the subject and it only supported my claim. The article explained why Microsoft will not be letting the IE DHTML Implementation get any more powerful than it already is. Microsoft has realized that an experienced DHTML developer can create a web application that...

Hi all. I have a problem in my website in trying to prevent a user from double submitting the form. I am calling a subroutine from my page_load event that passes in the commandbutton that I want to prevent users from being able to click twice. Everything is working great, except for one small detail. When my client-side validation fires, and is invalid, I see the red text that displays the error message, but the problem is that something is...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
