Newbie with Process.Start problem

3 New Member
I am new to VB.Net (Visual Studio 2005) and am encountering a problem calling an external exe file with two parameters. If I use the Run dialog box of the Windows Start menu and enter:
"C:\Program Files\TIES\Prop osal.NET\HMSCCU RV.exe" C:\1-28903T.TI C:\1-28903T.TO
everything works correctly. When the oProcess.Start( ) statement from my application shown below executes, I receive an error message stating "The parameter is incorrect":

Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1. ' Previously established varaible values used in the code below:
  2. calString = "C:\Program Files\TIES\Proposal.NET\HMSCCURV.EXE"
  3. calFile = "C:\1-28903T.T"
  4.
  5. ' Set the process properties and start the external program.
  6. Dim argString As String = calFile & "I " & calFile & "O"
  7. Dim oProcess As New Process()
  8. oProcess.StartInfo.FileName = calString
  9. oProcess.StartInfo.Arguments = argString
  10. oProcess.StartInfo.CreateNoWindow = True
  11. oProcess.StartInfo.UseShellExecute = True
  12. oProcess.Start()
When oProcess.Start( ) executes, oProcess.StartI nfo.FileName = "C:\Program Files\TIES\Prop osal.NET\HMSCCU RV.EXE" and oProcess.StartI nfo.Arguments = "C:\1-28903T.TI C:\1-28903T.TO". This exactly matches the manual entry in the Run dialog box, all of the file references exist, and there are no access restrictions to the files or directories.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Michael Bailey

I would like to start a process from C# code as another user. The C# code is executed as the ASPNET user because it relies in a Web Page class, and I would like that the process will run as another user to gain the required rights for execution (the external process needs to create a mailbox in Exchange, so it needs to be run as an Exchange Full Administrator-powered user). For the moment, I have tries using the Start() static method of the...

How to wait for a process to stop completion is my goal. Obviously, the looping while waiting for the HasExited property is not a solution.. but thats the best I can come up off the top of my head. Natuarally it will not work. I expect it to use up all resources looping, which will not allow the process to complete. The process takes about 60 seconds, because the .bat file it is calling is rebuilding mulitple .NET solutions and projects...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
