I have inherited a VB6-SP5 program connecting to an Access 2000 database. I'm relatively new to VB/Access programming, so I may overlook something obvious. I'll try to explain the problem I can't solve. My VB executable and Access database are both stored in a shared folder on a Novell volume. The first user has a good performance, but the second user has to wait 9 seconds to open the first form. The third user has to wait 18 seconds,...

Hey guys, Long time Access programmer, but never had to bother with these things until now. First, I use ADO all the time in VB, but now I need to use it in Access 2K. I never remember/know how to link the required libraries to get ADO functionality. It was easy enough in VB. Second, I've been surviving so far with subforms but I really want to try out a grid control. I registered a grid control that was available from ordinary...

Can someone help: Is there a way with ado.net and it's disconnected dataset to delete a record in a table if you can't specify a unique field in an SQL WHERE clause. The current Dbase .dbf table that I'm forced to work with does not have any fields that I can count on as being unique. I know the index of the row in my dataset table and I have no problem updateing that dataset datatable, but I still need to update the database with the...

Im a college student, my program is a computerized enrollment system, Im using MS ACCESS database in connecting my VB6 program form. Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
