Helpful folks,
Most of my previous experience with DB2 was on s390 mainframe systems
and the optimizer on this platform always seemed very predictable and
consistent. Since moving to a WinNT/UDB 7.2 environment, the choices
the optimizer makes often seem flaky. But this last example really
floored me. I was hoping someone could explain why I get worse
response time when the optimizer uses two indexes, than when it uses
one. Some context:

Can anybody help me with some Access 2000 code?
I don't do a lot of coding in Access & so every time I come back to do
something I pretty much have to relearn the syntax from scratch so this is
taking me hours. As with most occasional programmers its the commas, colons,
inverted commas, square brackets etc etc that cause the problem! (Not to
mention the nuances of using Do While, Do until, Case statements If
statements, IIF etc etc...)...

One of the limitations stated for the code is "each table to be audited
must have an AutoNumber primary key". Can someone explain why the
automunber field has to be the primary key? It seems that the
autonumber field would be unique by default. I have another field that

I am using an Access client linked to a PG 7.4 server via ODBC.
I have a stored proc on the server that inserts rows into a
table.particular table, accomplished via an INSERT
within the body of the stored proc. The procedure does not explicitly
commit this data, as no transactions are invoked.
The problem is that Access will not modify these records via table or

I have a BeforeUpdate where I need to ensure that no matter what, the
first four fields on the form (one text box, 3 combo box lists) have
data entered in them before the user closes the form or before the user
moves off the form to a subform on the main form, regardless of whether
the end user even put focus to any of the four form fields.
(It is easy to know if all 4 fields have values, but not if less than
four fields have values.)

I have a need to add another field to all of my tables (over 150). Not data,
but an actual field.
Can I code this somehow. So the code presumabley would loop through all the
tables, open each table in design mode and then add the new field and set its
properties.

textboxes for the main data and a datagridview for the detail data for each

I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
