I have some information embedded in included schemas which I want to
access at run-time for the purposes of contructing a GUI (they will
support field labels and tool tips).
The options seem to be to store them as documentation/appinfo elements
within the included schema or as unhandled attributes.
Because the schemas are included it seems the items would have to be
accessed via the SOM (as opposed to retrieving the details via XPATH)...

First off, I apologize if this gets long. I'm simply trying to give you all
enough information to help me out. I'm writing (almost finished, actually),
my first VB.Net application. It's a forms application that is going to be
used to extract data from a legacy system (VSAM based mainframe file
structure), and output data in pipe-delimited record layouts, multiple record
types per file, one file per chosen client. I have been working on...

Hi,
Question:
When using Framesets and Server.Transfer in the
Application_Error event handler is there a mechanism to
get the error page to display in the total view of the
browser not just in the offending frame?
Overview:
I have an application in which I am using framesets. When
an Unhandled exception occurs I try to handle it

I have a Windows service that requests web pages from a site using an
HttpWebRequest object. When I try to request a page from an ASP.NET 2 site,
I get a WebException with message "The remote server returned an error:
(500) Internal Server Error." I found a post that suggested to catch the
WebException to retrieve the actual HttpWebResponse object for more
information. The response returned is shown below.
At first I thought this was a...

I recently read Jason Clark's excellent article on Unhandled Exceptions
(http://msdn.microsoft.com/msdnmag/issues/04/06/NET/default.aspx) and have
attempted to incorporate the features he talks about in a new application I'm
writing. However, when I try to use ThreadStart to do some work in a separate
thread from my GUI, the methods Jason described don't seem to catch the
exception. Take the following source code:

Now this is bugging me.
I just released software for a client and they have reported an unhandled
stack overflow exception.
My first concern is that the entirity of the UI and any threaded operations
are all within Try Catches to help me locate the problem and the origination
of any problem by specifiying an error code in the "Catch" section.
So theoretically this shouldn't have been possible (at which point we all
say "yeah,...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...
