Best way to learn VBA? Start with Visual Basic?

1 New Member
Hello,

If I want to learn VBA should I start by learning Visual Basic? I have no background in coding, but I need to learn VBA. So what is the best way to learn it; do I need to learn Visual Basic first before I start on VBA or can I start with vba?

Not sure about the best way, that might be to do a course somewhere.

But I think that one relatively easy (and cheap) way is to start by recording macros in Excel or Word, then editing them and playing with the code that was generated, to get a feel for how it all works. Since you performed the action, this should help to establish the connection between the code and what it does.

(Of course it's hard for me to judge, since I had been using various versions of BASIC for years before I saw VBA, or VB.)

Hi I am a .NET developer, but "have to" work with some classic ASP, which I don't know much about. What is the best way to work with it/debug it? I have VS 2003 and 2005 installed, I know VS 6 (with C++), but don't know if I can reinstall it. Other options I know about are Macromedia trial versions.

Our .Net team has just inherited a junior programmer that we need to get up to speed as quickly as possible. Unfortunately, his skill set is largely Access with some VB6 and ASP classic experience. We employ some parts of XP such as pair programming, and this should help. Other than books, does anyone have any suggestions? His skill set is pretty antiquated and we need to get him up to speed as quickly as possible so any suggestions...

Hi All, I have a number of databases which I would like to convert to VB or VC using Microsoft Visual Studio Express. I know I cannot just click a button and have everything done automatically and that I would need to learn to program. What I would like to know is which language would be best for a novice. I've written a few bits of VBA and SQL but nothing spectacular, I have done a little basic programming way back in the days of BBC...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
