is Internet Transfer Control the solution?

175 New Member
I'm working on a program where I need to be able to get specific data from an internet site that changes daily. Basically, I'm looking at 2 to 3 numbers out of a whole lot of numbers (among other things on the page). Anyway, I've done the majority of my programming in C++, and even then, I haven't done a whole lot with the internet.

I wrote a program (I'm using VB6 for this) where it will take you directly to the page from whichever day you want, but I'd rather be able to avoid opening the page and JUST get the numbers needed.

I had no idea how to do this, so I searched the internet and keep seeing "Internet Transfer Control", but I haven't found anything that clearly laid it out. So, I'm asking for help on how to use it, or should I be looking into some other method entirely?

actually, I just thought of something else. Is there a way I could just copy the entire page? or a way I could use a macro in excel to copy the entire page so I can just get the data from excel?

...either way, I'm still curious about how I can use the Internet Transfer Control to do this

Hi, I'm trying to make an online FTP utility in C# ASP.NET using MSINET.ocx (an active X control a.k.a. "Microsoft Internet Transfer Control") I've added the reference into my project and have been able to compile it. However, when I go to a webpage, and try to FTP something, I get this error: System.Web.HttpUnhandledException was thrown.(Class is not licensed for use)

I used to be able to easily transfer a file or web page off of a web site to a flat file with the VB6 internet transfer control. Does anyone know how to do this in Dot.NET 2005 VB? VB6 was so easy. Thanks!! Sheila

Hello, I wonder if there is a control that can be used in asp.net scripts equivalent to what used to be the 'internet transfer control' in vb6. I believe there is. Could anyone point me to information on it, or an example would be better. Thanks.

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
